List Of Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes Head Football Coaches
The Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes, Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes program is a college football team that represents Kansas Wesleyan University in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, NAIA. The team has had 20 head coaches since its first recorded football game in 1903. The current coach is Myers Hendrickson, who assumed the role in early 2019. Hendrickson had been an assistant under the previous head coach Matt Drinkall who was hired in January 2014. Drinkall replaced coach Dave Dallas who first took the position for the 1997 season and resigned at the end of the 2013 season. Alexander Brown Mackie
Alexander Brown Mackie (May 1, 1894 – June 5, 1966) was an American football and basketball, coach, college athletics administrator, professor, and college founder and president. He served as the head football coach at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas from 1921 to 1937, compiling a record of 79–52–13. He was also the head basketball coach at Kansas Wesleyan from 1921 to 1938, tallying a mark of 113–161. Mackie was the co-founder of Brown Mackie College, also in Salina, for which he served as president from 1938 until his retirement in 1963. Early life and education Mackie was born on May 1, 1894, in Gazaam in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. Daffin Theodore "Swede" Backstrom (July 17, 1916 – July 15, 1993) was an American football, basketball and baseball player and coach. Franklin Gene Bissell (April 12, 1926 – January 28, 2016) was an American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Kansas Wesleyan University from 1952 to 1961 and again from 1963 to 1978, compiling a record of 115–119–7.
