Cinema Of Karnataka
Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film ''Sati Sulochana'' directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded ''South India Movietone'' in Bangalore. Major literary works have been adapted to the Kannada screen such as B. V. ''Beautiful Manasugalu'' ( Beautiful Minds) is a 2017 Indian Kannada-language romantic thriller film written and directed by Jayatheertha. Jointly funded by S. Prasanna and S. Shashikala Balaji, the film is produced under Skkandda Entertainment banner. It features Sathish Ninasam and Shruthi Hariharan, teaming up again after '' Lucia'' (2013), in the lead roles. K. Suchendra Prasad (born 1973) is an Indian theatre, film and television actor. Before beginning his career in Kannada cinema, he worked as theater actor with playwrights such as B. V. Karanth and D. R. Ankur. During this time, he also directed, choreographed, composed music for films, television and radio, and wrote plays. Chikkanna (born 22 June 1984), is an Indian actor who works in Kannada cinema and appears primarily in comic roles. He made his debut in films with ''Kirataka'' (2011), following which he was recognized for his performances in ''Raja Huli'' (2013) and ''Adyaksha'' (2014). Kotturu Chikkarangappa Raghunath (born 17 April 1965), known by his screen name Rangayana Raghu, is an Indian film and stage actor, known for his work in Kannada cinema. Portraying mostly comic and negative-shaded characters, he has appeared in over 250 films. Prior to acting in films, he worked as a stage actor with B. V. ''Lee'' is a 2017 Indian-Kannada-language action film written by H. M. Srinandan. It was produced by Sarathy Sathish for Vivid Dreams Entertainment, with cinematography by Nandakumar.
