Cinema Of Karnataka
Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film ''Sati Sulochana'' directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded ''South India Movietone'' in Bangalore. Major literary works have been adapted to the Kannada screen such as B. V. Shuba Poonja
Shubha Poonja is an Indian actress and former model. She has mostly appeared in Kannada films and Tamil. She is best known for her role in the movie Moggina Manasu for which she received Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Kannada. Recently she entered the Kannada TV reality show Bigg Boss Kannada (season 8). Career Shubha Poonja is of Mangalorean descent from the Tuluva community. Kishore Kumar G (born 14 August 1974), known mononymously as Kishore, is an Indian actor who appears predominantly in Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films. He gained popularity for portraying the character of Veerappan in the Kannada film Attahasa in 2013. Recently, he got pan India recognition for his performance in The Family Man (Indian TV series) and Kantara (film). Kotturu Chikkarangappa Raghunath (born 17 April 1965), known by his screen name Rangayana Raghu, is an Indian film and stage actor, known for his work in Kannada cinema. Portraying mostly comic and negative-shaded characters, he has appeared in over 250 films. Prior to acting in films, he worked as a stage actor with B. V. Karanth's theatre group Rangayana, from 1988 to 1999. He made his debut in films in 1995 with ''Suggi'', which got shelved.
