The KBO League (), officially the Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League, is the highest level league of baseball in South Korea. The KBO League was founded with six franchises in 1982 and is the most popular sports league in South Korea. The Kia Tigers are the most successful team, having won 11 of the 40 championships. Choi Jeong (Hangul: 최정; born February 28, 1987 in Icheon, South Korea) is a third baseman who has played his whole career for the SK Wyverns (known as the SSG Landers beginning in 2021) in the Korea Baseball Organization. He bats and throws right-handed. Choi's 368 career home runs rank second on the KBO all-time list. His 294 career hit-by-pitches (HBP) is the most in the KBO as well as the world record. His total was surpassed by Chang Jong-hoon on May 23, 1999, and Chang retained the title for ten years. In 2009, Yang Joon-hyuk hit his 341st home run, passing Chang to become Home Run King. In 2012, Lee Seung-yeop hit his 352nd home run to claim the Home Run King title, which he extended to 467 before he retired. Kim Dong-Joo (Hangul: 김동주, Hanja: 金東柱) (born February 3, 1976 in Seoul, South Korea) is a retired South Korean third baseman, who played his entire career for the Doosan Bears in the KBO League. He batted and threw right-handed. Amateur career While attending Baemyung High School in Seoul, South Korea, Kim's main position was shortstop, batting leadoff, but he was considered one of the best high school power pitchers as well. In 1992, Kim swept most of the major individual titles (best pitcher, home run, and runs batted in) in the Phoenix National Championship, the most prestigious annual high school baseball competition in South Korea, pitching to a 0.80 ERA and batting .600 with 10 runs batted in. Lee Bum-ho (; Hanja: 李杋浩; born November 25, 1981) is a South Korean former third baseman who played primarily in the KBO League. He bats and throws right-handed. Lee is considered one of the best defensive third basemen in the KBO league history. He made great contributions on offense as well. He hit with considerable power, which enabled him to collect 20+ home runs nearly every season. Park Jae-hong (Hangul: 박재홍, Hanja: 朴栽弘; born September 7, 1973, in Gwangju, South Korea) is a retired South Korean outfielder in the KBO League. Park was considered one of the best five-tool players in the KBO. Chang Jong-hoon
Chang Jong-hoon (born April 10, 1968) is a retired former infielder in the KBO League. He spent his entire 20-year career with Binggrae/Hanwha Eagles. He is currently a coach with the team. Chang was a two-time KBO MVP, and led the league in home runs and RBI three seasons in a row, from 1990 to 1992. He was the first player in the KBO League to reach 40 home runs in a season, the first to score 100 or more runs, and the first to drive in 100 or more runs. Chang was the KBO career Home Run King for ten years until being surpassed by Yang Joon-hyuk. Chang's 340 career home runs currently rank fourth on the KBO all-time list; his 1,145 RBI rank seventh. Lee Jong-beom ( ko, 이종범, Hanja: 李鍾範; born August 15, 1970) is a former South Korean professional baseball player who played for the Kia Tigers (formerly the Haitai Tigers) in the KBO League and the Chunichi Dragons in Japan from 1993 to 2011. Kang Min-ho (Hangul: 강민호; born August 18, 1985) is a South Korean catcher who plays for the Samsung Lions in the Korea Baseball Organization. He previously played with the Lotte Giants.
