Ali Dashti
Ali Dashti ( fa, علی دشتی, pronounced ; 31 March 1897 – January 16, 1982) was an Iranian rationalist of the twentieth century. Dashti was also an Iranian senator. Life Born into a Persian family in Dashti in Bushehr Province, Iran on 31 March 1897. Ali Dashti received a traditional religious education. He studied Islamic theology, history, Arabic and Persian grammar, and classical literature in madrasas in Karbala and Najaf (both in Iraq). He returned to Iran in 1918 and lived in Shiraz, Isfahan, and finally in Tehran, where he became involved in politics of the day. Rather than becoming a scholar, he became a journalist and published a newspaper (Shafaq-e Sorkh) in Tehran from 1922 to 1935. He was a member of Majlis at various times between 1928 and 1946. His criticism of allowing the Tudeh party into the cabinet and concessions to the Soviets landed him in prison in 1946. He was appointed a Senator in 1954 until the Islamic revolution in 1979. Mahmoud Hessabi
Mahmoud Hessabi (or Hessaby, fa, محمود حسابی, February 23, 1903 – September 3, 1992) was an Iranian nuclear physicist and senator. He was the Minister of Education of Pahlavi Iran in the cabinet of Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh from 1951 to 1952. Life Hessabi was born in Tehran to the family of Abbas and Goharshad Hessabi. His family's hometown is Tafresh, Markazi province, Iran. At the age of four, his family moved to Beirut where the young Hessabi attended primary school. He was still in secondary school when World War I started prompting the closure of his school; Hessabi continued his studies at home and in 1922, he earned a degree in road engineering from the American University of Beirut. After briefly working for the Ministry of Roads, Beirut, Hessabi travelled to Paris for further education, he was awarded a degree in electrical engineering at the École Superieure d'Electricité and later a doctorate degree in 1927. Mohsen Sadr
Mohsen Sadr ( fa, محسن صدر; also known by his title: Sadr ol-Ashraf I (1871 – 19 October 1962) was a Prime Minister of Iran. He was born in Mahallat in Markazi in 1871 as the son of Seyyed Hossein 'Fakhr ol-Zakerin', a wealthy clergyman, by a daughter of Hajji Molla Akbar Khorassani. He received his title "Sadr ol-Ashraf' after the death of his paternal uncle Seyyed Sadr ed-Din 'Sadr ol-Ashraf', who had been the son-in-law of the very influential courtier Anoushirvan (Shir) Khan Qajar Qovanlou 'Eyn ol-Molk' 'Etezad od-Doleh' (a cousin of Nasser ed-Din Shah). Jafar Sharif-Emami
Jafar Sharif-Imami ( fa, جعفر شریفامامی; 17 June 1912 – 16 June 1998) was an Iranian politician who was prime minister from 1960 to 1961 and again in 1978. He was a cabinet minister, president of the Iranian Senate, president of the Pahlavi Foundation and the president of the Iran chamber of industries and mines during the reign of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Early life and education Sharif-Emami was born in Tehran on 17 June 1912 to a clerical family and his father was a mullah. After high school, Sharif-Emami was sent (along with thirty other young men) to Germany where he studied for eighteen months, returning to Iran in 1930 to work with state railroad organization until the Anglo-Soviet Invasion. Hassan Taqizadeh
Sayyed Hasan Taqizādeh ( fa, سید حسن تقیزاده; September 27, 1878 in Tabriz, Iran – January 28, 1970 in Tehran, Iran) was an influential Iranian politician and diplomat, of Azeri origin, during the Qajar dynasty under the reign of Mohammad Ali Shah, as well as the Pahlavi dynasty under the reign of Reza Shah and Mohammad Reza Shah. Taqizadeh was also a prominent scholar; his studies on Iranian calendars remain reference work up until now. Although in the modern political history Taqizadeh is known as a secular politician, who believed that "outwardly and inwardly, in body and in spirit, Iran must become Europeanized", he came from a traditional Islamic Sayyed-family (descendant of Muhammad).
