Wage Rudolf Soepratman (''Wage Soepratman'' in the old orthography or commonly known as W. R. Supratman) (9 March 1903 – 17 August 1938) was an Indonesian journalist and songwriter who wrote both the lyrics and melody of the national anthem of Indonesia – "Indonesia Raya". He is an Indonesian National Heroes of Indonesia, National Hero. Biography W.R. Soepratman's father was Sergeant Djoemeno Senen Sastrosoehardjo, a Royal Netherlands East Indies Army, KNIL soldier, and his mother was Siti Senen. Soepratman was born Wage on 9 March 1903 in Somongari, Purworejo Regency, Purworejo. Several months later, his father added Soepratman to his name and explained that he was born in Meester Cornelis, Batavia, Dutch East Indies, Batavia. Soepratman was the seventh of nine children. As it is a country with many different tribes and ethnic groups, the music of Indonesia ( id, Musik Indonesia) itself is also very diverse, coming in hundreds of different forms and styles. Every region have its own culture and art, and as a result traditional music from area to area also uniquely differs from one another. Elwin Hendrijanto (born 3 of February 1986) is an Indonesian composer, pianist, music producer, and music director. Education In 2008, Elwin graduated cum laude on a scholarship for Bachelors of Music in Performance Classical Piano from Utrechts Conservatorium. He then continued his studies at the Royal College of Music in London where he studied both Integrated Masters Programme in Composition for Screen and Integrated Masters PGdip in Performance Classical Piano on a scholarship which was supported by the Prince Bernhard Cultural Funds. Career The Piano Brothers During his studies at the Royal College of Music, Elwin teamed up with Dominic Ferris and created The Piano Brothers. Erwin Gutawa Sumapraja (born 16 May 1962) is an Indonesian composer. In 1985, he started his professional music career by joining the jazz band Karimata, later becoming an independent composer in 1991. As a composer, he won the 1992 Midnight Sun Song Festival in Finland together with Ruth Sahanaya. In 2001 he won the Anugerah Musik Indonesia award for best music arranger for his concert ''Rockestra''. Biography Erwin Gutawa was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 16 May 1962. Trisutji Kamal
Trisutji Djuliati Kamal (28 November 1936 – 21 March 2021) was an Indonesian composer. She was born in Jakarta and grew up in the Sultanate of Langkat in Binjai, Sumatra. She studied piano and composition with Henk Badings at the Amsterdam Conservatory, and continued her studies at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris and the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. After completing her studies, Kamal returned to Indonesia in 1967 and began working as a musician and composer. In 1994 she founded the Trisutji Kamal Ensemble, which performs with two pianos, Indonesian traditional vocals, instrument and dance. She died aged 84. Works Kamal's compositions include orchestral, chamber, choral, solo piano, opera, ballet, and film music. Ismail Marzuki (also known as Bang Ma'ing; 11 May 1914 – 25 May 1958) was an Indonesian composer, songwriter and musician who wrote around 202 to 240 songs between 1931 and 1958, including numerous popular patriotic songs. Among his best-known works are "Halo, Halo Bandung", "Gugur Bunga", and " Rayuan Pulau Kelapa".
