The Directorate of Film Festivals in India was an organisation that initiated and presented the International Film Festival of India, the National Film Awards and the Indian Panorama. Although the Directorate helped appoint members of the jury panels each year, it had no input on which films are selected for consideration and which films ultimately win awards at the various functions it initiates. National Film Award For Best Feature Film In English
The National Film Award for Best Feature Film in English is one of the National Film Awards of India presented annually by the Directorate of Film Festivals, the organisation set up by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It is one of several awards presented for feature films and awarded with Rajat Kamal (Silver Lotus). The National Film Awards, established in 1954, are the most prominent film awards in India that merit the best of the Indian cinema. The ceremony also presents awards for films in various regional languages. Awards for films in seven regional language (Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu) started from 2nd National Film Awards which were presented on 21 December 1955. Pandavas - The Five Warriors
''Pandavas: The Five Warriors'' is a 2000 Indian English-language animated Hindu mythological film directed by Usha Ganesh Raja and produced by Pentamedia Graphics. Based on the five Pandava brothers from the Indian epic ''Mahabharata'', it is India's first computer animated film, and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in English. Plot King Pandu ruled Hastinapur but has to leave the kingdom due to a curse. He is unable to have a child, but his wife Kunti has a boon that she could have children by praying to the gods. They invoke the gods of the elements and had three children: Dharma, Bhima, and Arjun. Pandu's other wife, Madri, also has two twin sons by praying: Nakul and Sahadev. The five sons became known as the Pandavas. King Pandu has a blind brother, King Dhiru, whose wife gives birth to 101 children, known as the Kauravas. 2014 Cannes Film Festival
The 67th Cannes Film Festival was held from 14 to 25 May 2014. New Zealand film director Jane Campion was the head of the jury for the main competition section. The Palme d'Or was awarded to the Turkish film '' Winter Sleep'' directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan. The festival opened with the long delayed '' Grace of Monaco'', directed by Olivier Dahan and starring Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly, which played out of competition. The restored 4K version of Sergio Leone's 1964 western ''A Fistful of Dollars'', served as the closing night film. Due to European Parliament elections which took place on 25 May 2014, the winner of the Palme d'Or was announced on 24 May, and the winning film in the Un Certain Regard section announced on 23 May. Dhvani Desai is an Indian animation filmmaker, curator and poet. She is best known for her artistic animated films (the Perfect Match) and (The Vicious Circle). Early life Desai was born in an illustrious family of writers, poets & filmmakers in Mumbai. Her father, Dr Sudhir Desai, is a poet, thinker, and scholar. Her mother, Tarini Desai, is a modern short story writer in Gujarati. 2006 Cannes Film Festival
The 59th Cannes Film Festival was held from 17 to 28 May 2006. Twenty films from eleven countries were in competition for the Palme d'Or. The President of the Official selection Jury was Wong Kar-wai, the first Chinese director to preside over the jury. English director Ken Loach won the Palme d'Or with his movie '' The Wind That Shakes the Barley''.
