List Of Idaho State Prisons
This is a list of state prisons in Idaho. There are no federal prisons in Idaho and this list does not include county jails located in the state of Idaho. The state contracted with the Corrections Corporation of America to operate the Idaho Correctional Institution - Orofino until the state took back operations in January 2014. CCA also operates the largest prison in the state, the Idaho Correctional Center, although Idaho Governor Butch Otter announced in January 2014 that its contract would not be renewed. Idaho also exports state prisoners to CCA's Kit Carson Correctional Center in Colorado. Idaho Correctional Institution - Orofino
The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) operates nine prisons, four community release centers and 20 probation and parole offices in seven districts located throughout the state of Idaho. The agency has its headquarters in Boise. IDOC employs about 2,000 people under the leadership of Director Josh Tewalt. Most of them are correctional officers and probation and parole officers. They are all certified peace officers and train at the Peace Officer Standards Training Academy in Meridian. Private prisons As of 2016, IDOC contracts with one private prison firm, Management and Training Corporation, to run one facility: the Correctional Alternative Placement Program, a 432-bed center focused on treatment programs and inmates with cognitive issues. Idaho State Correctional Center (ISCC) is a state prison for men located in Kuna, Idaho, Kuna, Ada County, Idaho, one of a cluster of seven detention facilities known as the "South Boise Prison Complex". The other prisons in the area are the Correctional Alternative Placement Program, the Idaho State Correctional Institution, the Idaho Maximum Security Institution, the South Boise Women's Correctional Center, the South Idaho Correctional Institution, and the South Idaho Correctional Institution-Community Work Center. Clement Leroy "Butch" Otter (born May 3, 1942) is an American businessman and politician who served as the 32nd governor of Idaho from 2007 to 2019. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected in 2006, and reelected in 2010, and 2014. Otter served as lieutenant governor from 1987 to 2001 and in U.S. Congress from the first district from 2001 to 2007. Idaho State Correctional Institution (ISCI), also referred to as "The Yard," is an Idaho Department of Correction state prison for men in unincorporated Ada County, Idaho, near Kuna. Located in the desert five miles south of the Boise Airport, it is one of a six residential detention facilities known as the "South Boise Prison Complex." The other prisons in the area are the Correctional Alternative Placement Program (CAPP), the Idaho State Correctional Center (ISCC), the Idaho Maximum Security Institution (IMSI), the South Boise Women's Correctional Center (SBWCC), the South Idaho Correctional Institution (SICI) also referred to as "The Farm."
