ITV (TV network), ITV (Independent Television) is the original United Kingdom, British advertising television network. Some of the franchise holders, most notably ITV plc and its predecessor companies Granada plc and Carlton Communications, launched other television channels, some with the ITV brand, some not. Current channels ITV1/STV The ITV (TV network), ITV network was launched in 1955 as a federal network of, eventually, fifteen mutually independent regional companies granted franchises either solely on a geographical basis or also on a weekday/weekend split basis. ITV (TV Network)
ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). ITV is the oldest commercial network in the UK. Since the passing of the Broadcasting Act 1990, it has been legally known as Channel 3 to distinguish it from the other analogue channels at the time, BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4. ITV was for four decades a network of separate companies which provided regional television services and also shared programmes between each other to be shown on the entire network. Each franchise was originally owned by a different company. After several mergers, the fifteen regional franchises are now held by two companies: ITV plc, which runs the ITV1 channel, and STV Group, which runs the STV channel. ITV2
ITV2 is a British free-to-air television channel owned by ITV Digital Channels, a division of ITV plc. It was launched on 7 December 1998. For a number of years, it had the largest audience share after the five analogue terrestrial stations, a claim now held by its sister service ITV3 both of which are freely available to a majority of households. The Only Way Is Essex
''The Only Way Is Essex'' (often abbreviated as ''TOWIE'' ) is a British reality television series based in Brentwood, Essex, England. It shows "real people in modified situations, saying unscripted lines but in a structured way." Originally broadcast on ITV2 from 2010, the series was moved to ITVBe in October 2014. The first series consisted of 10 episodes and ran for 30 minutes, with a Christmas special following later in the year. Due to popularity, the runtime was extended to 45-minute episodes and renewed for a year's airing. On 22 May 2011, the series won the Audience Award at the 2011 BAFTA Awards. On 13 March 2016, ITVBe aired a one-off documentary hosted by former cast member Mark Wright, discussing the history of the series. ''Big Rich Texas'' is an American reality television series on the Style Network that premiered on July 17, 2011. The show is filmed in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. The series follows five wealthy Texas women and their daughters. The first season of the show premiered on July 17, 2011 following a spin off from the show '' Dallas Divas and Daughters'' that originally aired in 2009 on Bravo TV and The Style Network. The second season debuted February 19, 2012 with new cast members: Deaynni, Amber and Shaye Hatley. In 2014 Season 4 was green lit and ready for production. The channel was first announced on 12 February 2014 and launched on 8 October 2014. ITVBe broadcasts reality and unscripted shows, including US acquisitions such as '' The Real Housewives'' franchise, ''Million Dollar Listing New York'' and '' Botched''; and original programming such as ''The Real Housewives of Cheshire'', ''Dinner Date'' and '' The Only Way Is Essex''.
