Hungarian Language
Hungarian () is an Uralic language spoken in Hungary and parts of several neighbouring countries. It is the official language of Hungary and one of the 24 official languages of the European Union. Outside Hungary, it is also spoken by Hungarian communities in southern Slovakia, western Ukraine ( Subcarpathia), central and western Romania (Transylvania), northern Serbia (Vojvodina), northern Croatia, northeastern Slovenia (Prekmurje), and eastern Austria. It is also spoken by Hungarian diaspora communities worldwide, especially in North America (particularly the United States and Canada) and Israel. Kossuth Rádió
Kossuth Rádió (formerly known as ''MR1-Kossuth Rádió'', ''Radio Budapest'' and ''Budapest I.'') is the national radio station of Hungary. It was established in 1925 as Budapest I. and named after Lajos Kossuth, a Hungarian national hero, in 1949. The main Hungarian-language radio station can be heard all over Central Europe; Antenna Hungária broadcasts it with 2 MW power on 540 kHz AM from transmitter Solt (the most powerful medium wave transmitter in the world) and several FM stations, covering Hungary and the neighbouring countries. It is the second most popular radio station in Hungary (as 2013) with 1.38 million listeners (14% of the total population) daily. Tilos Rádió
Tilos Rádió is a community, non-profit, listener supported radio station in Budapest, Hungary. History Tilos Rádió was the first community radio station in Hungary, established as a pirate broadcaster in 1991. The station's programmers have always contributed on a voluntary basis. Tilos Rádió has never broadcast advertisements, and has a strong social and freedom-of-expression commitment. Tilos Rádió was established as a pirate community radio station in Budapest in 1991 as a way of bringing the public's attention to the fact that there was at that time no legal framework for independent and community broadcasters. During the first years of its broadcasting, Tilos (meaning "forbidden" in Hungarian) enjoyed wide public interest and played a key role in the 1995 liberalisation of the airwaves in Hungary. Klubrádió
Klubrádió is a commercial talk and news radio station based in Budapest, Hungary. Klubrádió is often labeled as the voice of the left-liberal opposition. Many on the right and far-right find it important to emphasize what they perceive as the political bias of Klubrádió by pointing to the fact that Klubrádió has hired a liberal politician as a host since 2008. The then-active SZDSZ MP, also former party chairman Gábor Kuncze was the Minister of Interior appointed by the liberal party, SZDSZ. Socialist Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány also hosted once a program on Klubrádió while in office. Klubrádió was started broadcasting in April 1999, as the official radio of the Hungarian Auto Club (HAC). This list contains all radio stations that have been broadcasting on the FM or AM band in Hungary or are members of the Hungarian Federation of Free Radios. These stations are variously called community, small community, or free radios. Their licence have been termed "non-profit" or "public program provider" before the 2010 media law that introduced the terms "small community" and "community" media services, the latter also including commercial stations with public service type programming. Commercial (for-profit) operations are not included in this list. Additional networks and stations operate with "community" licence that include news, public affairs, music stations, religious regional and semi-national networks and local commercial stations.
