List Of Helsinki Metro Stations
The Helsinki Metro is a metro system in Helsinki, Finland. It was opened on 2 August 1982 and remains the only metro system in Finland and the furthest north in the world. It is operated by Helsinki City Transport (HKL) for Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL) and carries over 60 million passengers per year (62.8 million in 2017). The system contains a single forked line with 30 stations along a total length of , running from southern Espoo via central Helsinki to the East Helsinki suburbs. The nineteen stations in Espoo, western and central Helsinki and Puotila and Itäkeskus stations are located in a tunnel, the rest being on surface. The Länsimetro extension continues the line into western Helsinki and the neighbouring municipality of Espoo. Current metro line These are the stations on the current metro line. Kontula metro station (, ) is a ground-level station on the M2 line ( Tapiola - Mellunmäki) of the Helsinki Metro. There are 273 bicycle and 53 car parking spaces at Kontula. The station serves the district of Kontula in East Helsinki. Kontula was opened on 21 October 1986 and was designed by architect bureau Toivo Karhunen Oy. Helsinki Commuter Rail
Helsinki commuter rail ( fi, Helsingin seudun lähijunaliikenne, sv, Huvudstadsregionens närtrafik) is a commuter rail system serving Greater Helsinki and the surrounding county of Uusimaa. The system is a joint venture between the regional transport authority HSL and national railway operator VR. The system operates on four railway lines and comprises 13 services, all of which terminate at Helsinki Central Station. Within the HSL region, tickets and timetables are fully integrated with other modes of public transport. Four services extend into the operational area of VR commuter rail – tickets issued by VR are needed for journeys further north from Zone D. Both parties discontinued onboard ticket sales in 2017. University Of Helsinki Metro Station
The University of Helsinki metro station ( fi, Helsingin yliopiston metroasema, sv, Helsingfors universitets metrostation) is a station on the Helsinki Metro. It serves the University of Helsinki and surrounding areas in the central Helsinki districts Kaisaniemi and Kluuvi. From 1995 to 2015, the station's name was Kaisaniemi. The station is 27 metres below ground level and 22 metres below sea level. It is positioned 600 metres east of the Central Railway Station and 900 metres south of Hakaniemi. Hakaniemi metro station (, ) is a station on the Helsinki Metro. It serves the central Helsinki districts of Hakaniemi and Kallio. Both lines M1 and M2 serve Hakaniemi. There are 28 bicycle parking spaces at the station. Opened on 1 June 1982, Hakaniemi was among the first metro stations opened in Helsinki. It was designed by Mirja Castrén, Juhani Jauhiainen, and Marja Nuuttila. It is located 900 meters from the University of Helsinki station, and 900 meters from Sörnäinen metro station. Sörnäinen metro station (, ) is a station on the Helsinki Metro. It serves the central Helsinki districts of Sörnäinen and Kallio. Sörnäinen is the easternmost station on the system to be located underground. The station was opened on 1 September 1984 and was designed by Jouko Kontio and Seppo Kilpiä. Kalasatama Metro Station
Kalasatama metro station ( fi, Kalasataman metroasema, sv, Fiskehamnens metrostation - "Fish Harbor") is a ground-level station on the Helsinki Metro, in the capital city of Finland. The station was opened on 1 January 2007, and it serves the eastern part of the central Helsinki district of Sörnäinen's quarter Kalasatama. The area is mainly composed of offices and apartments, with new residential and commercial developments being under construction in the area, including the shopping center Redi. The port facilities previously in the area were moved to Vuosaari Harbour in 2008. Unlike most other stations on the Helsinki Metro, Kalasatama was built while the metro was still running, which made construction difficult.
