A journalist is an individual that collects/gathers information in form of text, audio, or pictures, processes them into a news-worthy form, and disseminates it to the public. The act or process mainly done by the journalist is called journalism. Roles Journalists can be broadcast, print, advertising, and public relations personnel, and, depending on the form of journalism, the term ''journalist'' may also include various categories of individuals as per the roles they play in the process. Rhode Vanessa Dalzon (born November 1, 1996) is a Haitian journalist and author. She is the editor-in-chief of the online newspaper ''Balistrad''. Biography Dalzon was born in Port-au-Prince, (Haiti) in a Christian family. She studied Law at Quisqueya University. She is the author of the novel ''Opération-Rupture'', a column published in Balistrad for 22 weeks. Balistrad is an independent media company producing content for the web. ''Le Nouvelliste'' is a French-language daily newspaper printed in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and distributed throughout the country, particularly the capital and 18 of the country's major cities. The paper was founded in 1898 by Guillaume Chéraquit originally under the name ''Le Matin'', to become ''Le Nouvelliste'' 15 months later. Printing was entrusted to Chéraquit's friend Henri Chauvet. Ady Jean-Gardy
Ady Jean-Gardy (born 15 September 1957) is a Haitian social reformer and international press activist. He became Minister of Communication in Haiti (2012–13) after serving as Chief of Staff of the Haitian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Jean-Gardy designed reforms for public communication without propaganda, respecting human rights organizations and positioned Haiti as an influential member of the African Union at Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). He worked to end civil wars in Africa and promoted a new image of Haiti as an international leader for peace. Ady Jean-Gardy is also the founder of the Haitian Press Federation, an umbrella organization for various Haitian press associations. He founded the Haitian University of Journalism and Social Communication, also known as the Haitian Center for Teaching Journalists. Michèle Montas
Michèle Montas (born 1946) is a journalist from Haiti and the former Spokesperson under UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon (January 1, 2007 - January 1, 2010). Prior to her appointment, Montas headed the French unit of UN Radio. From 2003 to 2004, she served as the Spokesperson for UN General Assembly President Julian Robert Hunte soon after she fled to New York from Haiti. Montas began her journalism career in Haiti in the early 1970s with her husband, Jean Dominique, also a Haitian journalist. Dominique's station, Radio Haiti-Inter, was attacked several times in the 1980s and 1990s, and the couple was forced to flee the country twice to briefly live in exile. Dominique was assassinated in April 2000 after broadcasting increasingly strident criticisms of Jean-Bertrand Aristide's party on his program (Aristide was not in power at the time). Liliane Pierre-Paul
Liliane Pierre-Paul (born 16 June 1953) is a prominent journalist, activist, radio broadcaster, and radio station founder in Haiti. She broadcasts in Haitian Creole, which she describes as the people's language. Pierre-Paul received a Courage in Journalism Award in 1990 from the International Women's Media Foundation. She also received le prix Roc Cadet de SOS Liberte in 2014.
