Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. A goal is awarded for kicking the ball under the crossbar into the net (the ball cannot be hand-passed into the goal), signalled by the umpire raising a green flag. Jason Ryan (Gaelic Footballer)
Jason Ryan (born 1976) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player at senior level for the Waterford county team, as well as for the London county football team and London county hurling team. Ryan is the former manager of the Kildare and Wexford county teams. Career Born in Dungarvan, County Waterford, Ireland, Ryan's playing career brought him to both Ireland and Britain. While studying in St Mary's in Twickenham he played football with Tara and hurling with St Gabriel's, while also lining out with the London senior inter-county teams in both codes. He went on to be a P.E. teacher at Salesian School, Chertsey. On his return to Ireland Ryan joined the De La Salle club, while he also lined out at senior level with the Waterford county football team. John Evans (Gaelic Football)
John Evans is a Gaelic football manager. He has managed three senior inter-county teams: Tipperary, Roscommon and Wicklow. Evans was the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship winning manager with Laune Rangers in 1996. Career Evans is from Killorglin, County Kerry. Before taking to inter-county management, he managed his local Laune Rangers team from the 1980s till the 2000s. He led them to the Kerry Championship in 1993 beating Annascaul, 1995 beating East Kerry and made it two in a row in 1996 by overcoming West Kerry. He led the Rangers to Munster Senior Club Football Championships in 1995 beating Cork side Clonakilty and in 1996 beating Tipperary side Moyle Rovers. The Laune Ranagers went to the 1996 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship, defeating Carlow side Éire Óg in the final at Croke Park. Carlow GAA
The Carlow County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Luthchleas Gael Coiste Ceatharlach) or Carlow GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Carlow and the Carlow county teams. The Carlow county football team play in the Leinster Senior Football Championship and in Division 3 of the Allianz Football League for 2019. The Carlow county hurling team compete in the Joe McDonagh Cup, the second tier of the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship, and in Division 1B of the National Hurling League in 2019. Anthony Rainbow
Anthony Rainbow is a Gaelic football manager and former player from County Kildare, Ireland. He played with the Kildare county team for almost 20 years with whom he won two Leinster Senior Football Championship medals, in 1998 and 2000. He played in the 1998 All Ireland Senior Football final where Kildare lost out to Galway. He won an All Star in 1998. He also won an O'Byrne Cup medal in 2003. He played with Ireland in the International Rules Series in 2001. He announced his retirement after Kildare's defeat to Down in the All Ireland semi-final in 2010. In late 2012, he was appointed manager of the senior Carlow county football team, having been a member of the backroom team. Mick O'Dwyer
Michael O'Dwyer (born 9 June 1936) is an Irish retired Gaelic football manager and former player. He most famously managed the senior Kerry county team between 1974 and 1989, during which time he became the county's longest-serving manager and most successful in terms of major titles won. O'Dwyer is regarded as the greatest manager in the history of the game. He is one of only three men to manage five different counties (he was preceded in reaching this total by Mickey Moran in 2008 and emulated by John Maughan in 2018). Martin Breheny has described him as "the ultimate symbol of the outside manager". Aidan O'Rourke (footballer)
Aidan O'Rourke (born 1984) is a manager and former Gaelic footballer. He played from 2001 to 2009, winning an All Star and an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship as a player for the Armagh county team in 2002. Playing career Born in County Armagh, O'Rourke played football with his local club Dromintee St Patrick's GAC. A member of the Armagh senior football team between 2001 and 2006, and again in 2008 and 2009, he won one All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in 2002, the same year as he won his only All Star award. Liam Kearns
Liam Kearns (1962 – 12 March 2023) was an Irish Gaelic football manager and player. He managed Offaly from 2022 until his death in 2023. Kearns previously managed the Limerick, Laois and Tipperary county teams, as well as several clubs in different counties. He led Tipperary to a 2016 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship semi-final, the county's first since 1935. After leaving Tipperary and before being appointed Offaly manager, Kearns managed Clann na nGael GAA (Roscommon). Early life Kearns's father Ollie captained Kerry to an All-Ireland MFC final in the late 1950s.
