Albert Préjean
Albert Préjean (27 October 1894 in Paris – 1 November 1979 in Paris) was a French actor, primarily in film. He served in World War I, and was decorated with the Croix de Guerre and the Legion d'honneur. With Lysiane Rey, he was the father of Patrick Préjean, and grandfather of Laura Préjean. Biography Préjean shot his first five films with French director Henri Diamant-Berger between 1921 and 1923. The roles he played tended to embody the leading man for the people, generous and strong. His most lasting fame stems from his work in the films of René Clair that transition from the silent to the sound eras. René Clair
René Clair (11 November 1898 – 15 March 1981), born René-Lucien Chomette, was a French filmmaker and writer. He first established his reputation in the 1920s as a director of silent films in which comedy was often mingled with fantasy. He went on to make some of the most innovative early sound films in France, before going abroad to work in the UK and USA for more than a decade. Returning to France after World War II, he continued to make films that were characterised by their elegance and wit, often presenting a nostalgic view of French life in earlier years. He was elected to the Académie française in 1960. Antoine Marie Joseph Paul Artaud, better known as Antonin Artaud (; 4 September 1896 – 4 March 1948), was a French writer, poet, dramatist, visual artist, essayist, actor and theatre director. Marcel Vandal
Marcel Vandal (1882–1965) was a French film producer. During the 1910s he worked closely with the German producer Erich Pommer for the French company Elcair. Vandal served in the French Army during the First World War. He directed four silent films between 1926 and 1928. Lotte Neumann (born Charlotte Pötler, 5 August 1896 – 26 February 1977) was a German film actress, screenwriter, and film producer. Biography Lotte Neumann was born Charlotte Pötler on 5 August 1896 in Berlin. She attended the Königliche Luisenschule in her hometown, and then the Wagnersche-Klinkhardsche Höhere Mädchenschule. At 13, she completed vocal training with Karl Grünwald and Emma Sebold, and took acting lessons, as well as studied dance and piano. She was a choir singer at the Komische Oper Berlin and at the Komödienhaus. Neumann originally wanted to be a singer, but at the urging of Max Mack, she instead opted for a career in film, and made her debut in the short ''Whims of Fate'' (1912) alongside Erwin Fichtner and Hanni Weisse, followed by ''Im Übermut'' (1912) and ''Das Bild der Mutter'' (1912).
