List Of French Divisions In World War II
This is a listing of French divisions that served between 1939 and 1945. Cavalry, mechanized and armoured divisions Light cavalry divisions (DLC, ''Division Légère de Cavalerie'') Part horse and part motorized; were part of the cavalry arm in 1940. The cavalry divisions (DC) were renamed light divisions (DL) in February 1940 and then light cavalry divisions (DLC) in March 1940. They were supplied with Renault AMR 33s more so than 35s and Hotchkiss H35s. * 1st Light Cavalry Division. Active as the 1st Cavalry Division at the start of the war and mobilized on 22 August 1939 in various towns in France with the first command post at Marle. A WikiProject, or Wikiproject, is a Wikimedia movement affinity group for contributors with shared goals. WikiProjects are prevalent within the largest wiki, Wikipedia, and exist to varying degrees within sister projects such as Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikidata, and Wikisource. They also exist in different languages, and translation of articles is a form of their collaboration. During the COVID-19 pandemic, CBS News noted the role of Wikipedia's WikiProject Medicine in maintaining the accuracy of articles related to the disease. Another WikiProject that has drawn attention is WikiProject Women Scientists, which was profiled by '' Smithsonian'' for its efforts to improve coverage of women scientists which the profile noted had "helped increase the number of female scientists on Wikipedia from around 1,600 to over 5,000". La Souterraine (; Limousin: ''La Sotarrana'') is a commune in the Creuse department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in central France. Geography La Souterraine is an area of farming and light industry, comprising the town and a few small hamlets. It is situated some west of Guéret, at the junction of the D1, D912, D951 and the N145 roads. It is also served by a TER railway link. Ribérac
Ribérac (; oc, Rabairac) is a commune in the Dordogne department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. The commune is situated by the Dronne River. History In response to the 848 Norman plunder of nearby Brantôme, a fort was built near a ford of the Dronne. Around the year 1000, the castle of Ribérac was built on a hill where the current cemetery is. Houses are set up at the foot of the walls, descending towards the valley. After the Wars of Religion, in the late 1500s, the castle was abanonded and was in ruins by the time of the French Revolution. In 1790, Ribérac became the prefecture of the District of Ribérac (french: District de Ribérac). Jumilhac-le-Grand
Jumilhac-le-Grand is a commune in the Dordogne '' dėpartement'' in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in south western France. The village lies on the road followed by Richard the Lionheart and on one of the many branches of the Camino de Santiago pilgrim route. Jumilhac-le-Grand is a village of some 1,200 inhabitants in the northern part of the Dordogne. It is within the Périgord-Limousin Regional Nature Park, a protected area with a rich heritage.
