''Freddy's Nightmares'' is television series spin-off of the successful movie series ''A Nightmare on Elm Street''. In the United States, the first episode of the series originally aired on October 8, 1988. The series ran for two seasons, ending on March 12, 1990, after 44 episodes. The series has had a limited release on VHS in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Italy, and the Netherlands. In the United States, the series was released on September 11, 1991, in five volumes, with one episode per volume. The UK released eight volumes, with two episodes per volume. The other countries released the same episodes as that of the UK release. The UK released a two volume DVD set on June 9, 2003. ''Freddy's Nightmares'' is an American horror anthology television series, which aired in syndication from October 1988 until March 1990. A spin-off from the ''A Nightmare on Elm Street'' film series, each episode is introduced by Freddy Krueger (played, as in the films, by Robert Englund), and features two different stories, with eight of them throughout the series actually having Freddy Krueger as the main antagonist. The pilot episode was directed by Tobe Hooper, and begins with Krueger's prosecution on child-murdering charges. The series was produced by New Line Television, producers of the film series, and Stone Television. It was originally distributed by Lorimar-Telepictures. Afterwards, Warner Bros. Tom DeSimone (born 1939) is an American director, writer, producer and editor, perhaps best known for directing the cult films ''Chatterbox (1977 film), Chatterbox'' (1977), ''Hell Night'' (1981), and ''The Concrete Jungle (film), The Concrete Jungle'' (1982). Writer/ director, Tom DeSimone, was born in Cambridge MA.
