List Of Finnish Ice Hockey Champions
The Finnish ice hockey champions is a title awarded annually to the winning team of the top-tier ice hockey league in Finland, which currently is Liiga since 2013. The championship's present format did not take into effect until the league was originally formed for the 1975–76 season under the name of SM-liiga (preceded by SM-sarja). A team who wins the Finnish Championship is awarded the ''Kanada-malja'' ("Canada Bowl") trophy. The winner of the regular season receives the ''Harry Lindbladin muistopalkinto'' ("Harry Lindblad Memorial Trophy"). Winners Until 1933 the championship was played as a Cup series. From the 1933–34 season it was played as a League series. Ilves
Ilves (; Finnish for "Lynx") is a Finnish professional ice hockey team based in Tampere. They play in the Liiga at the Tampere Deck Arena. The colors of Ilves, green, yellow, and black, were taken from what was then the coat of arms of the city of Tampere. History With sixteen championships, Ilves is the second most successful hockey team in the Finnish championship league, the Liiga, after their local rival Tappara. The club was founded in the spring of 1931, and it played its first game against Tampereen Palloilijat the next winter. In the late 1930s, Ilves won three Finnish championship titles as the first Tampere-based hockey team. After World War II, Ilves started playing its home games at the then new Koulukatu ice rink. It had another championship spree in 1945–47 when it stayed undefeated for over four years (albeit playing only 36 games during that period). Hämeenlinnan Tarmo is a sports club founded in Hämeenlinna, Finland, in 1903. It currently has about 1500 members. 1943–44 SM-sarja Season
The 1943–1944 SM-sarja season was stopped mid-season cause of the Continuation War. This would be the last SM-sarja/ SM-liiga season which had to be cancelled pre- or mid-season until 2020. SM-sarja Championship The season was stopped in the middle of it. Therefore, the standings are the situation from the moment of cancellation.The result between Karhu-Kissat and TBK is not included on the scoreboard but the match is counted on. The match between TPS and Ilves was stopped cause of an air alert. On February 6, the match between Karhu-Kissat and TBK at Helsinki was stopped because the hockey field was bombed. As a result, a Karhu-Kissat's player was injured and never played hockey again. Bombing of Helsinki had started. Ilves wished to play the two games remaining at their hometown to claim the title. HC TPS
TPS or Turun Palloseura is an ice hockey team and 10-time champion of SM-liiga and 1-time champion of SM-sarja. They play in Turku, Finland, at Gatorade Center. In terms of championships, TPS is the second all-time most successful team in SM-Liiga, right behind Tappara. Team history TPS was established in 1922 as Turun Palloseura, from which the acronym derives. The club began ice hockey activities after 1929. Today, the full name of the company that owns the ice hockey team is ''HC TPS Turku Oy''. TPS has won the Finnish Championship in ice hockey 11 times: 1956, 1976, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2010.
