Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling was a Japanese hardcore wrestling promotion founded by Atsushi Onita in 1989. The event held its first card on October 6, 1989 and the first supercard was titled ''Battle Creation'' which took place on December 10, 1989. The event held many supercards and the most prestigious show was the FMW Anniversary Show. The company conducted many supercards until 1997 and then produced its first pay-per-view event Entertainment Wrestling Live on April 30, 1998 and continued to broadcast shows via pay-per-view until the promotion closed in 2002. Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling
Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling is a Japanese professional wrestling promotion founded on July 28, 1989, by Atsushi Onita as (FMW). The promotion specializes in hardcore wrestling involving weapons such as barbed wire and fire. They held their first show on October 6, 1989. In the late 1990s, FMW had a brief working agreement with Extreme Championship Wrestling, and as well had 14 DVDs released in the U.S. by Tokyopop. On March 4, 2015, FMW was resurrected under the name . With the resurrected FMW not holding any events since 2018, Onita announced in 2021 that he would be starting Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling-Explosion in which the promotion would specialize in exploding death matches. The promotion was highlighted in the third season of the Vice TV's pro wrestling docuseries ''Dark Side of the Ring'' in September 2021. Summer Spectacular (1990)
Summer Spectacular in Shiodome was the first Summer Spectacular professional wrestling event produced by Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling (FMW). The event took place on August 4, 1990, in the Shiodome in Tokyo, Japan. It was aired as a television special on Samurai! TV. The event was a counterpart to World Wrestling Federation's SummerSlam event in August. Seven matches were contested at the event. In the main event, Atsushi Onita successfully defended the WWA World Brass Knuckles Heavyweight Championship against Tarzan Goto in the first-ever no ropes exploding barbed wire deathmatch. Other predominant matches on the card featured the team of Katsuji Ueda, Mr. Pogo and Ricky Fuji defeating Kim Hyun Han, Lee Gak Soo and Sambo Asako, and Noriyo Toyoda defeating her former Outbreakers partner Megumi Kudo in a street fight. Michael Allan Bollea (born October 21, 1965) is an American retired professional wrestler. The nephew of fellow wrestler Hulk Hogan, he is best known for his appearances with World Championship Wrestling in the late 1990s under the ring name Horace Hogan. José Casas Ruiz (born January 10, 1960) is a Mexican professional wrestler (called a ''Luchador'' in Spanish) and trainer working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) under the ring name Negro Casas.
