Josep Maria Carreras Coll (; born 5 December 1946), better known as José Carreras (, ), is a Spanish operatic tenor who is particularly known for his performances in the operas of Donizetti, Verdi and Puccini. The album was recorded on July 16, 1994, at the Three Tenors concert in Los Angeles with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the chorus of the Los Angeles Opera on the night before the 1994 FIFA World Cup Final. An estimated 1.3 billion viewers watched the concert as a television broadcast special across the world.
