Ma Baker
"Ma Baker" is a song by disco group Boney M., released as a single in 1977. It was the first single off their second album '' Love for Sale'' and their third consecutive chart-topper in Germany. The song was a huge success in Europe and Latin America, topping the charts in many countries there. It was a number 2 hit in the UK (only surpassed by Donna Summer's "I Feel Love"). In the U.S, the song only reached number 96. The song Frank Farian's assistant Hans-Jörg Mayer discovered a popular Tunisian folkloric song, " Sidi Mansour" while on holiday, and rewrote the song into a disco track. With a structure similar to Boney M.'s breakthrough single " Daddy Cool", using the same gimmick percussion, alternating answer-back vocals, and a spoken mid-part, the song opened with a snarling "Freeze, I'm Ma Baker, put your ...

Girls' School (song)
"Girls' School" is a song by Wings released in 1977. Recording and release Written and produced by Paul McCartney during the first sessions for '' London Town'' (before recording was stopped due to Linda McCartney's pregnancy), it was released as a double A-side single with "Mull of Kintyre". Accordingly, it was part of the band's sole UK number one, spending nine weeks at the top in December 1977 and January 1978. In the United States, "Girls' School" was the more prominently played side, but it only reached #33 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and #34 in Canada. Mull Of Kintyre (song)
"Mull of Kintyre" is a song by the British-American rock band Wings written by Paul McCartney and Denny Laine. The song was written in tribute to the Kintyre peninsula in Scotland and its headland, the Mull of Kintyre, where McCartney has owned High Park Farm since 1966. The single was Wings' biggest hit in Britain and is one of the best selling singles of all time in the United Kingdom, where it became the 1977 Christmas number one and was the first single to sell over two million copies nationwide. History The song dates as far back as at least 1974, appearing on the extended home demo recording known amongst bootleggers as "The Piano Tape". Written on piano originally, at that early stage the lyric only had the completed chorus and a few bits of the lyrics that eventually made the finished version. The lyrics of the first verse, also used as the repeating chorus, are an ode to the area's natural beauty and sense of home: McCartney explained how the song came into being: ...

Background and release "The Name of the Game", first called "A Bit of Myself", was the first song to be recorded for ABBA's fifth studio album, following the band's European and Australian tour. It was their most complex composition yet – with Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad sharing the lead vocals but with solo passages from both women – and contained the influences of the laid-back California sound of the day. The opening riff on bass and synthesizer is inspired by Stevie Wonder's "I Wish" from the 1976 album ''Songs in the Key of Life'', and both Andersson and Ulvaeus have acknowledged being inspired by Wonder's music during this part of ABBA's career.
