DC Comics
DC Comics, Inc. (doing business as DC) is an American comic book publisher and the flagship unit of DC Entertainment, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery. DC Comics is one of the largest and oldest American comic book companies, with their first comic under the DC banner being published in 1937. The majority of its publications take place within the fictional DC Universe and feature numerous culturally iconic heroic characters, such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Cyborg. The Kents
''The Kents'' is the title of a 12-issue comic book limited series published by DC Comics, from August 1997 to July 1998. The story concerns a troubled generation of ancestors to Jonathan "Pa" Kent ( Superman's adoptive father). Set in the mid to late 19th century, the two main characters are brothers Nathaniel and Jebediah. The series was written by John Ostrander. As with many limited series, it was later collected as a trade paperback. Publication history The series was written by John Ostrander with pencils/inks for the first eight issues by Timothy Truman/Michael Bair. In issue #9 Tom Mandrake took over full art duties for the final four issues. Krypto
Krypto, also known as Krypto the Superdog, is a fictional superhero dog appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with the character Superman. In most continuities, Krypto is Superman's pet dog, usually depicted as a white dog of a generic pedigree. Krypto is sometimes depicted as resembling a Labrador Retriever, a plain white Dalmatian, a White Shepherd, or even a primitive dog such as a spitz-type dog such as a husky or a laika, a dingo (in Australian versions), a pye-dog (in Indian versions), or a tugou (in Chinese versions), but his specific breed is almost never specified. Gold Key Comics
Gold Key Comics was originally an imprint of American company Western Publishing, created for comic books distributed to newsstands. Also known as Whitman Comics, Gold Key operated this way from 1962 to 1984. Currently, Gold Key Comics is owned by Gold Key Entertainment LLC, which consists of business partners and comic book enthusiasts Lance Linderman, Adam Brooks, Mike Dynes, and Arnold Guerrero. History Gold Key Comics was created in 1962, when its parent, Western Publishing Company, switched to in-house publishing rather than packaging content for branding and distribution by its business partner, Dell Comics. Hoping to make their comics more like traditional children's books, they initially eliminated panel line-borders, using just the panel, with its ink and artwork evenly edged, but not bordered by a "container" line. Korak (character)
Korak, a fictional character, is the ape name of John "Jack" Clayton III, the son of Tarzan and Jane Porter. History Jack first appeared in the original ''Tarzan'' novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs. He was introduced as an infant in the non-Tarzan novel ''The Eternal Lover'' (later retitled ''The Eternal Savage''), in which the Ape Man and his family played supporting roles. His next appearance (still as an infant) was in ''The Beasts of Tarzan'', the third Tarzan novel, in which he was kidnapped and taken to Africa. The story of his youth and growth to manhood was told in the fourth novel, ''The Son of Tarzan'', in which he returned to Africa and lived in the jungle, taking for the first time the name Korak ("Killer" in the language of the Great Apes). Kobra (DC Comics)
Kobra is the name used by two supervillains published by DC Comics. The Jeffrey Burr incarnation of Kobra and his brother Jason first appeared in ''Kobra'' #1 (February 1976), and were created by Jack Kirby. Jason Burr debuted as Kobra in ''Faces of Evil: Kobra'' #1 (March 2009) by Ivan Brandon and Julian Lopez. Publication history Both Jeffrey and Jason Burr were created by Jack Kirby for a proposed DC Comics series called ''King Kobra'', the first issue of which was both written and drawn by Kirby. This first issue then sat in DC inventory for over a year, during which time Kirby left the publisher to return to Marvel Comics. "Knight Terrors" is an American comic book line-wide crossover event published by DC Comics from July to August 2023. The event is headlined by Joshua Williamson writing the opening and ending one-shots along with the core 4-issue miniseries. The event starts off in ''Knight Terrors: First Blood'', with art by Howard Porter (artist), Howard Porter, and ends with ''Knight Terrors: Night's End''. The entire event received positive reviews from critics, with critics praising the story and tie-ins, although there was criticism on the pacing.
