This is a list of Coronation Street characters that made their first appearance in 1983. Damian Ogden Damian Ogden was the son of Trevor (Don Hawkins) and Polly Ogden (Mary Tamm) and grandson of Stan (Bernard Youens) and Hilda Ogden (Jean Alexander). Damian was born in 1973, during which time Stan and Hilda were estranged from their son and did not know he was married. Polly and Trevor lived in a detached house in Chesterfield, far removed from the working class community Trevor ran away from when he was fifteen. Stan and Hilda re-entered his life at Christmas of 1973, when they tracked him down and they were thrilled to learn that they were grandparents again (their first grandchild, Darren Barlow, was killed in a road accident in 1970). Coronation Street
''Coronation Street'' is an English soap opera created by Granada Television and shown on ITV since 9 December 1960. The programme centres around a cobbled, terraced street in Weatherfield, a fictional town based on inner-city Salford. Originally broadcast twice weekly, the series began airing six times a week in 2017. The programme was conceived by scriptwriter Tony Warren. Bill Webster
Bill Webster is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera, '' Coronation Street'', played by Peter Armitage. The character first appeared onscreen during the episode airing on 6 February 1984 and remained in the show until 1985 when Armitage decided to leave. The character was reintroduced in 1995 but he was again written out two years later. Armitage returned once again in 2006 and appeared frequently until late-April 2010 when the character suddenly appeared only a recurring basis. It was reported in 2011 that Bill was going to be axed completely, however, he continued to make appearances on a recurring basis. Alma Sedgewick
Alma Halliwell (also Sedgewick and Baldwin) is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street'', played by Amanda Barrie. Alma was featured as a recurring character from 1981 to 1982; however, she was reintroduced as a regular in 1988. She remained in the show for a further 13 years, featuring in high-profile storylines such as a problematic marriage to the long-running character Mike Baldwin ( Johnny Briggs), kidnapping, and a supermarket siege. Susan Barlow
Susan Barlow (also Baldwin) is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street''. She made her debut screen appearance on 5 April 1965. Susan has been portrayed by four actresses since her introduction. Katie Heannau was the first actress to play the character, appearing sporadically in the 1960s uncredited. Wendy Jane Walker took over the role for 26 episodes between 1970 and 1971 and between 1973 and 1974. When the character returned, Suzy Paterson was recast in the role. Steve November (born Steven Frost) is a British television producer and executive. Originally known as Steve Frost during his early career, he became a writer for the Sky One drama ''Dream Team''. He also took roles as an assistant director until he became a scriptwriter on the ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale''. He progressed to become the series producer, a role he then took on at ''Coronation Street'' and ''The Royal''. Michael Robert Turner (born 15 December 1964), known professionally as Michael Le Vell, is an English actor. He is best known for his role as mechanic Kevin Webster in the long-running ITV (TV channel), ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'', a role he has played since 1983. Early life Le Vell was born in Newton Heath, Manchester. When he was fifteen, his mother died from a brain tumour, and when he was 22, his father died of lung cancer.
