Cork Senior Football Championship
The Cork Premier Senior Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bon Secours Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork PSFC) is an annual club Gaelic football competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs and amalgamated teams in the county of Cork in Ireland, deciding the competition winners through a group and knockout format. It is the most prestigious competition in Cork Gaelic football. Introduced in 1887 as the Cork Senior Football Championship, it was initially a straight knockout tournament open only to senior-ranking club teams, with its winner reckoned as the Cork county champion. The competition took on its current name in 2020, adding a round-robin group stage for clubs and limiting the number divisional entrants to the championship proper. Duhallow GAA
Duhallow GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division in the barony of Duhallow, County Cork, Ireland. This barony is situated in the northwest region of the county, and includes towns such as Kanturk, Millstreet, and Newmarket. It is one of eight divisions of Cork County Board. It organizes competitions for the clubs within the division, from Under 12 up to the adult level. The winners of these competitions compete against other divisional champions to determine which club is the county champion. In addition, the division selects football and hurling teams from the adult teams playing at junior level or county intermediate level, and these then compete for the Cork Senior Football Championship and Cork Senior Hurling Championship. Since hurling is the weaker sport in the division, a divisional team has also participated in the Cork Minor Hurling Championship and Cork Under-21 Hurling Championship. Ballincollig GAA
Ballincollig GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in the town of Ballincollig, County Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated with the Cork GAA board and plays in the Muskerry divisional competitions. In 2009, the club will participate in the Cork Senior Football Championship and the Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship. History The GAA itself was founded in 1884 and the first Cork County Board was formed in 1886 with 21 teams from across the county. Ballincollig were in this initial 21, however it was not until 1887 that the first record of entry into the Championship from a team from Carrigrohane, with a late submission. With a lot of upheaval in the early days of the board, there were rival boards formed and in 1891 the club entered a team under the name of Ballincollig Gladstonians. Dromtarriffe GAA
Dromtarriffe GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the north-west of County Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Duhallow division of Cork GAA. Their hurling team currently competes in the Duhallow Junior A Hurling Championship and their football team currently competes in the Cork Intermediate A Football Championship. The club has historically been concerned with the game of Gaelic football, but also fields teams in hurling competitions. Dromtarriffe (or Dromtarriff or Dromtariffe) is a small townland, as well as being the name of the parish in the same area. It is not a village, but the parish is centred on the very small village of Dromagh, which is around half a mile from the townland of Dromtarriffe. Dohenys is a Gaelic Athletic Association club, fielding Gaelic football and Hurling teams in the town of Dunmanway, County Cork, Ireland. It won its only Cork Senior Club Football Championship in 1897. Other titles won include 2 Cork Intermediate Football Championships in 1972 and 1995, and 3 Cork Junior Football Championships in 1935, 1966, and 1993. In 2007, the club won its first ever county hurling championship when it won the Cork Junior B Hurling Championship. The club is part of the Carbery division of Cork. Muskerry GAA
Muskerry GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division located in the middle region of County Cork, Ireland. It is one of eight divisions of Cork GAA County Board. The division includes clubs from areas to the west of Cork city stretching to the county bounds with Kerry. Its name is derived from the ancient Gaelic kingdom of Múscraige which, following the Norman conquest, now encompasses the baronies of Muskerry West and Muskerry East. These baronies, or half-baronies, include towns such as Macroom, Ballincollig, and Ballingeary. O'Donovan Rossa or Skibbereen is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in Skibbereen, County Cork, Ireland. It participates in Cork GAA competitions. Traditionally, the club has been much more successful in Gaelic football. It won its only Cork Senior Football Championship in 1992 and subsequently won the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship after beating Éire Óg of Carlow in the final. Midleton Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Midleton in County Cork, Ireland. The club plays in the Imokilly division of Cork GAA. History The concept of a Gaelic Athletic Association was first mooted in 1883 when a sub-committee of the Irish Republican Brotherhood was formed with the ideal of creating a National Athletic body. Midleton man, P.N Fitzgerald was one of the committee members who eventually set up the Gaelic Athletic Association and thus Midleton's love affair and commitment to the G.A.A. was established.
