CTV Television Network
The CTV Television Network, commonly known as CTV, is a Canadian English-language terrestrial television network. Launched in 1961 and acquired by BCE Inc. in 2000, CTV is Canada's largest privately owned television network and is now a division of the Bell Media subsidiary of BCE. It is Canada's largest privately or commercially owned network consisting of 22 owned-and-operated stations nationwide and two privately owned affiliates, and has consistently been placed as Canada's top- rated network in total viewers and in key demographics since 2002, after several years trailing the rival Global Television Network in key markets. Bell Media also operates additional CTV-branded properties, including the 24-hour national cable news network CTV News Channel and the secondary CTV Two television system. Mary Berg (chef)
Mary Berg is a Canadian television host, author and cook, most noted as the winner of the MasterChef Canada (season 3), third season of ''MasterChef Canada''. She has been the host of two television cooking shows, ''Mary's Kitchen Crush'' and ''Mary Makes It Easy'', and has released two cookbooks, ''Kitchen Party'' and ''Well Seasoned''. Early life Berg was born in Pickering, Ontario. When she was four years old, Berg was in a car accident in which her father died. Her mother and brother survived the accident with injuries. Berg helped out preparing meals for her family from about age 7 and by age 13 was cooking dinner for her family on her own. Berg obtained her bachelor's degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, double majoring in history and English. She then pursued a master's degree in information science at the University of Toronto. Open Mike With Mike Bullard
''Open-Mike with Mike Bullard'' was a Canadian late-night talk show which was broadcast live from 1997 to 2003 on CTV and on The Comedy Network in primetime. It was hosted by comedian Mike Bullard and initially taped at a studio at the back of Wayne Gretzky's restaurant in Toronto, Ontario before CTV moved the show to Toronto's historic Masonic Temple. ''Open Mike with Mike Bullard'' featured two or three panel guests and one musical or comedy performance nightly. The show's bandleader and musical director was Orin Isaacs. Part of Bullard's comedic style was interacting with audience members during his opening monologue, often deriving humour from finding ways to poke fun at an audience member's expense. In the summer of 2003, Bullard's contract with CTV expired. He did not like their practice of shutting the show down for summers; he knew that it interrupted his exposure and he did not like to see reruns that were dated. Mike Bullard (comedian)
Michael Bullard (born June 12, 1957) is the former host of the late-night talk shows ''Open Mike with Mike Bullard'' on CTV and ''The Mike Bullard Show'' on Global and of the midday radio show, ''Beyond the Mic with Mike Bullard'' on CFRB. Most recently, he hosted a podcast, ''You Too with Mike Bullard''. He is the brother of Pat Bullard and the half-brother of Downchild Blues Band lead singer Chuck Jackson. Career Stand-up comedy A native of Mississauga, Bullard worked briefly as a police officer with Peel Regional Police in his youth, but resigned when he was not permitted to moonlight in comedy clubs. He then returned to Bell Canada, where he had worked previously, and eventually was promoted to associate director of corporate investigation, while also working part-time as a stand-up comic. CICC-TV
CICC-TV (channel 10) is a television station in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada, part of the CTV Television Network. Owned and operated by network parent Bell Media, it is a semi-satellite of CKCK-DT in Regina. CICC-TV's studios are located on Broadway Street East and 6 Avenue North in Yorkton, and its transmitter is located adjacent to Highway 52, west of the city. The station operates rebroadcast transmitters in Norquay, Hudson Bay, Carlyle Lake, Wynyard and Humboldt. History CICC signed on for the first time on Labour Day 1971, owned by Yorkton Television along with CKOS-TV. In 1984, it became sister station to Prince Albert's CBC affiliate, CKBI-TV. Rob Brown (journalist)
Rob Brown is a Canadian television journalist and anchor for CBC News Calgary. Early life Brown was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and raised in Ladner, British Columbia. Brown had graduated British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1997, attending its journalism program. Newscasting career Brown began his career as a photojournalist at a CTV affiliate in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. After briefly leaving CTV to cover the Legislative Assembly of Alberta and Ralph Klein, Brown had eventually returned to British Columbia. Since then, Brown had held a number of positions such as being CTV's bureau chief for Vancouver for CTV Vancouver. Brown was also the lead reporter for CTV during the 2010 Winter Olympics. Michael Bonacini
Michael Bonacini (born March 1, 1960) is a Welsh-Canadian chef who owns eleven restaurants (including Jump, Canoe, Luma, and Bannock) in Toronto, Ontario and is a co-founder of Oliver & Bonacini Restaurants. Bonacini trained in London and immigrated to Canada in 1985. He founded his first restaurant, Jump, with business partner Peter Oliver in 1993. CKY-DT (channel 7) is a television station in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, part of the CTV Television Network. The station is owned and operated by network parent Bell Media, and maintains studios on Graham Avenue (adjacent to the Canada Life Centre) in Downtown Winnipeg; its transmitter is located near Lord Selkirk Highway/ Highway 75 in Ritchot. Rod Black
Rod Black (born September 28, 1962) is a Canadian sports announcer best known for his work with CTV Sports and TSN from 1990 to 2021. He is now a host and brand ambassador for NorthStar Bets, a brand of NorthStar Gaming. Education Black was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Prior to coming onto the national scene, Black studied Creative Communications at Red River College. Career Black got his start as a sports announcer at the age of 19 at the local CTV affiliate (now owned station) CKY-TV where he soon became host of the Winnipeg Jets’ NHL broadcasts. Canadian Idol
''Canadian Idol'' is a Canadian reality television competition show which aired on CTV, based on the British show ''Pop Idol''. The show was a competition to find the most talented young singer in Canada, and was hosted by Ben Mulroney. Jon Dore was the "roving reporter" for the first three seasons (appearing in comedy skits throughout the show). Elena Juatco (a season 2 contestant) assumed the role for season four, Dave Kerr had the role in season five and Jully Black in season six. The show began with a cross-Canada tour in which singers audition in front of four judges: Jake Gold of Toronto, Sass Jordan of Montreal, Quebec, Zack Werner of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Farley Flex of Ajax, Ontario. Eventually the performers were narrowed down to 10 finalists (11 in season one due to a near-tie), with each competitor performing live.
