Bulgaria (; bg, България, Bǎlgariya), officially the Republic of Bulgaria,, ) is a country in Southeast Europe. Elena Nikolova Yoncheva ( bg, Елена Николова Йончева) (born 27 May 1964) is a Bulgarian freelance journalist and politician who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. A former Bulgarian National Television correspondent, Yoncheva has reported from many conflict areas. She has authored more than 25 TV documentaries on these conflicts including Ukraine, after filming the war in Donbas she was informed that she was not allowed to enter the country anymore. and while reporting from Iraq in 2003, she had a narrow escape from tragedy being rescued from armed civilians by an Iraqi official. Ralitsa B. Vassileva ( bg, Ралица Василева, born 8 June 1963 in Sofia, Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian journalist. Currently she is lecturer at Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Previously she was an anchorwoman on CNN television news from 1992 to 2014 and news director at Bulgarian International Television, BIT between 2015 and 2017. She has covered the Bosnian War, the Arab–Israeli conflict, and many other major international issues. Stefan Tafrov
Stefan Tafrov is a Bulgarian politician, born on 11 February 1958, in Sofia. He was the Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to the United Nations between 2001 and 2006, being replaced by Ivan T. Piperkov. In September 2002 and December 2003, as part of the standard presidency rotation, he took up the presidency of the United Nations Security Council. In June 2012, he was once again appointed as the Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to the United Nations, and served until 2016. He graduated from the Lycée Français de Sofia, in 1977. After receiving a Master's degree in journalism from Sofia University in 1983, Mr. Tafrov worked until 1987 as a staff writer for the weekly newspaper ABV, in Sofia. Prior to his UN appointment, Mr. Tafrov was his country's Ambassador to France. Petko Bocharov
Petko Bocharov (19 February 1919 – 2 March 2016) was a Bulgarian journalist and translator. He became the oldest active journalist in the world before his death and is a well-known figure in Bulgarian culture. Biography Bocharov was born on 19 February 1919 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He graduated from the American College of Sofia and then went on to read law in Sofia University. Bocharov was an agent for the Committee for State Security in Bulgaria from 1946 to 1982. Bocharov started working for the Bulgarian News Agency in 1952, eventually rising to deputy-chief contributing editor. He retired in 1983. Gerri Peev is a Bulgarian-born, New Zealand-raised British journalist. Peev is known for an interview for ''The Scotsman'' of Samantha Power, a foreign policy advisor to U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama. During an interview, Power said of Obama's Democratic primary opponent Hillary Clinton: "She is a monster, too – that is off the record – she is stooping to anything."
