''Andy Capp'' is a British comic strip created by cartoonist Reg Smythe, seen in the ''Daily Mirror'' and the ''Sunday Mirror'' newspapers since 5 August 1957. Originally a single-panel cartoon, it was later expanded to four panels. The strip is syndicated internationally by Creators Syndicate. The character is also licensed as the mascot for a line of snack foods (Andy Capp's fries). The Topper (comics)
''The Topper'' was a UK comic published by D. C. Thomson & Co. Ltd that ran from 7 February 1953 to 15 September 1990, when it merged with ''The Beezer''. A strip named "Mickey the Monkey" originally appeared on the front cover. In 1973, it was replaced by "Send for Kelly", by " Danny's Tranny" in 1975, briefly by "The Whizzers from Oz" in 1979, and again in 1979 by " Tricky Dicky". "Beryl the Peril" took over on 24 May 1986, and remained there until the merger with ''The Beezer''. Unlike most other comics at the time, which were half tabloid size, the Topper was for many years full tabloid. It changed to A4 in 1980, one year before ''The Beezer''. Two comics were merged into ''The Topper'' during its run: these were '' Buzz'' in 1975 and '' Sparky'' in issue 1276 (16 July 1977). ''Belinda'', also known as ''Belinda Blue-Eyes'', was a newspaper comic strip created in 1936 by the cartoonist Steve Dowling (1904-1986) and scripted by Bill Connor. It was published in the UK newspaper ''Daily Mirror''. Beelzebub Jones
''Beelzebub Jones'' was a UK newspaper comic strip created by cartoonist Hugh McClelland. Characters and story The wild Western strip ran from December 28, 1937, to December 28, 1945, in the ''Daily Mirror'' newspaper. The sheriff character was based on McClelland's father, a farmer with a wooden leg. After taking over as cartoon chief at the ''Mirror'' in 1945, he dropped ''Beelzebub Jones'' and moved on to a variety of new strips, including ''Dan Doofer'', ''Sunshine Falls'' and ''Jimpy''. In 1952, he exited the ''Mirror'' for the tabloid ''Daily Sketch''. He launched his last strip, ''Jimmy Gimmicks'' in 1957, but it lasted only two months. McClelland had a working method that expedited his production. He would pencil 20 weeks of strips at one session, writing dialogue as he progressed and then ink these in outline. The ''Daily Star'' is a daily tabloid newspaper published from Monday to Saturday in the United Kingdom since 2 November 1978. On 15 September 2002 a sister Sunday edition, ''Daily Star Sunday'' was launched with a separate staff. On 31 October 2009, the ''Daily Star'' published its 10,000th issue. Jon Clark is the editor-in-chief of the paper. When the paper was launched from Manchester, it was circulated only in the North and Midlands. Beau Peep
''Beau Peep'' was a popular British comic strip written by Roger Kettle and illustrated by Andrew Christine. The strip features the misadventures of the eponymous lead character, Beau Peep, an inept and cowardly British man who joins the tough and hardy French Foreign Legion in the deserts of North Africa to escape his terrifying wife Doris back home. There are also numerous surreal supporting characters. Knockout (UK Comics)
''Knockout'' may refer to one of two British comics. The original series, published by the Amalgamated Press (later Fleetway Publications), started on 4 March 1939 and ended on 16 February 1963, when it merged with '' Valiant''. The second series, published by IPC Magazines, ran from 12 June 1971 to 23 June 1973, when it merged with ''Whizzer and Chips''. First series The first series, titled ''Knockout Comics'', was launched by editor Percy Clarke and sub-editor Leonard Matthews in 1939 to compete with ''The Dandy'' and ''The Beano'' (launched by DC Thomson in 1937 and 1938 respectively). ''Beat Your Neighbour'' was a British comic strip which appeared in ''Knockout'' in September 1971 and also in ''Whizzer and Chips''. The strip centred on two families which lived next door to each other. Although the introductory title picture shows them arguing, the two families often tried to be pleasant to one another while secretly trying to outdo each other. The results were quite often far-fetched but unexpected.
