State ownership, also called government ownership and public ownership, is the ownership of an industry, asset, or enterprise by the state or a public body representing a community, as opposed to an individual or private party. Public ownership specifically refers to industries selling goods and services to consumers and differs from public goods and government services financed out of a government's general budget. Hospital De Clínicas De Porto Alegre
Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre is a large teaching hospital located in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Affiliated with Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, it was inaugurated in 1970, gradually becoming a reference for the state of Rio Grande do Sul and southern Brazil. It currently has 125,000 square meters of floor space, distributed on 13 floors, and 741 beds. There is an emergency room with capacity for 50 patients, which contains a vascular unit, an operating theatre with 15 rooms, an outpatient surgery center, and an Interventional Neuro/Cardiovascular center with 3 rooms. It takes care of in about 60 specialties, since the simplest procedures until most complex, with priority, for patients of the SUS. History In 1938, the land plot destined for the hospital was bought by the Rio Grande do Sul State Government and was donated to the University two years later. BB Tecnologia e Serviços (BBTS), formerly Cobra Tecnologia, is a Brazilian information technology company that currently belongs to the Banco do Brasil conglomerate. Background In 1961, students from the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica create the first computer project in national territory, which was called “Zezinho”. Other universities begin to develop their own projects: Unicamp, with support from the Brazilian Navy, launches the "Projeto Cisne Branco". At the University of São Paulo, the Patinho Feio (''in English: Ugly Little Duck'') is developed. The name was a joke, because if the priority of the Military Government was the “Cisne Branco” (''in English: White Swan''), the USP project was the ugly duckling of the story. Casa Da Moeda Do Brasil
The Casa da Moeda do Brasil is the Brazilian mint, owned by the Brazilian government and administratively subordinated to the Ministry of Finances. It was established in 1694. Its current headquarters and industrial facilities occupy a modern plant with 110,000 square metres (1.2 million square feet) in Rio de Janeiro's western suburb of Santa Cruz. It produces legal tender coins and banknotes. It also produces medals and security prints (i.e., passports, subway tokens, postage stamps) that are used and issued by government-run service providers. Having the highest technology and production capacity in South America, until the 1980s it also produced coins, banknotes and passports for several South American and African countries that lacked a similar facility. The Porto Alegre Metro (Portuguese: ''Metrô de Porto Alegre'', commonly called ''Trem'' or ''Trensurb'') is a transit system operated jointly by the federal government, the state government of Rio Grande do Sul and the city of Porto Alegre through the company Trensurb (Company of Urban Trains of Porto Alegre SA) in Brasil. It has 22 stations, totaling of route, and carries about 175,000 users a day. History The Line 1 of the subway built in Porto Alegre was started in 1980, linking the center of Porto Alegre to cities to the north of the metropolitan area, as Canoas, Esteio, Sapucaia do Sul, São Leopoldo and Novo Hamburgo. The choice of path was made to relieve the heavy traffic of highway BR-116, the only option before the construction of this line, which already had serious problems with the transit at the time.
