The Baltimore Orioles farm system consists of seven Minor League Baseball affiliates in the United States and the Dominican Republic. Four teams are independently owned, while the other three—the Florida Complex League Orioles and two Dominican Summer League Orioles squads—are owned by the major league club. The Orioles have been affiliated with the Double-A Bowie Baysox of the Eastern League since 1993, making it the longest-running active affiliation in the organization among teams not owned by the Orioles. Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles are an American professional baseball team based in Baltimore. The Orioles compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) American League East, East division. As one of the American League's eight charter teams in 1901, the franchise spent its first year as a major league club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the Milwaukee Brewers before moving to St. Louis, Missouri, to become the St. Louis Browns in 1902. After 52 years in St. Louis, the franchise was purchased in November 1953 by a syndicate of Baltimore business and civic interests led by attorney and civic activist Clarence Miles and Mayor Thomas D'Alesandro Jr. The team's current owner is American trial lawyer Peter Angelos. The 2021 Baltimore Orioles season was the 121st season in Baltimore Orioles franchise history, the 68th in Baltimore, and the 30th at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. They significantly failed at attempting to improve on their record from the previous year. The Orioles endured two different losing streaks of 14 or more between the middle and the end of May, as well as between August 3 and August 24. The 2022 Baltimore Orioles season is the 122nd season in Baltimore Orioles franchise history, the 69th in Baltimore, and the 31st at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. They will attempt to improve on their 52–110 record from the previous year and continue to focus on rebuilding for their future. On December 2, 2021, Commissioner of Baseball Rob Manfred announced a lockout of players, following expiration of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the league and the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA). On March 10, 2022, the MLB and MLBPA agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement, thus ending the lockout. Opening Day is scheduled for April 7. Class A Short Season (officially Short-Season A) was a level of play in Minor League Baseball in the United States from 1965 through 2020. In the hierarchy of minor league classifications, it was below Triple-A, Double-A, Class A-Advanced (created in 1990), and Class A. Teams in Class A Short Season played about 75 to 80 games per season, compared to the 130- to 140-game seasons of most professional baseball minor leagues.
