List Of BDO Ranked Tournaments
The British Darts Organisation organised many darts tournaments each year including Major titles such as the BDO World Darts Championship, Lakeside World Professional Championship and the Winmau World Masters until its demise in September 2020. The Tournaments listed below were recognised BDO ranking events for the BDO Invitational Table point allocation system that determined players qualification for its Major tournament finals. The BDO's own tournaments are in bold. Tournament levels and points allocation The British Darts Organisation, BDO Invitational Table relates only to registered playing members of the BDO, who comply with BDO and World Darts Federation (WDF) eligibility rules including terms and conditions of the 1997 Professional Darts Corporation#Tomlin order, Tomlin Order. British Darts Organisation
The British Darts Organisation (BDO) was a darts organisation founded on 7 January 1973 by Olly Croft. Made up of 66 member counties, it oversaw professional, semi-professional and amateur darts competitions in Britain. The BDO was a founder member of the World Darts Federation in 1976. It also staged a BDO World Darts Championship, World Professional Darts Championship from 1978 to 2020. In the early 1990s, a dispute between Olly Croft and the top darts players over the decline in TV coverage and sponsorship led to an acrimonious Split in darts, split in the game, with the players breaking away to form their own governing body which became the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Henceforth, the BDO and PDC ran their own separate tours, each with its own world championship. The BDO suffered an increasing number of problems in its later years. Martijn Kleermaker
Martijn Kleermaker (born February 19, 1991) is a Dutch professional darts player, currently playing in Professional Darts Corporation events. PDC He announced that he intended to compete at Q School 2020, speaking to RTL7 saying that the 2019 World Masters was a 'catastrophe'. Kleermaker won a PDC Tour Card for the first time at European Q School in 2020. He played on the ProTour since 2020. In his first year in PDC, he took part in 2020 UK Open, where he lost in the first round. Martijn qualified for three out of four European Tour events in 2020 and secured his spot in 2020 European Championship, where he defeated Rob Cross 6-3 in the first round, losing to Devon Petersen 8-10 in the second round. Welsh Open (darts)
The Welsh Open is a darts tournament organised by the World Darts Federation and affiliated with the British Darts Organisation which has been staged annually since 1974. In 2008 the tournament was televised in the United Kingdom for the first time on Setanta Sports as part of the BDO's new Grand Prix (darts), Grand Prix series. From 1987 the event has been staged at the Pontins holiday camp in Prestatyn, North Wales. The singles tournaments are sponsored by Red Dragon Sports and Pontins sponsor the other events. Scott Waites
Scott Waites (born 17 February 1977) is an English professional darts player who plays in tournaments of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). He is a two-time BDO World Darts Champion having won the 2013 tournament and 2016 tournament. He is also a former Winmau World Masters champion, WDF World Cup singles' champion, Zuiderduin Masters champion. He also won the 2010 Grand Slam of Darts, becoming the only BDO representative to win the event. Career Waites' first career success came in February 2007 when he won the Dutch Open an event which attracted 2867 entries. Wesley Harms (born 11 June 1984) is a Dutch former professional darts player. Career Harms won the BDO International Open in 2011, defeating Stephen Bunting in the final. Harms qualified for the 2012 BDO World Darts Championship as the 13th seed. He defeated Martin Phillips, Robbie Green, and fellow débutant Paul Jennings to reach the semi-final where he was defeated 6–5 by Tony O'Shea.
