This is a listing of players to have played both Australian rules football in the nation's premier leagues and first-class cricket or higher. These leagues are the Australian Football League (AFL), formerly the VFL, West Australian Football League (WAFL) and South Australian National Football League (SANFL). First-class cricketers who played football in other states are eligible if they had a notable career in that state's top league. In the early years of the VFL it was quite common for footballers to play district cricket over the summer months, some of them even made their state sides and others represented Australia. Likewise cricketers would often play football in the off season to keep fit and if good enough would appear in their state's best league. North Adelaide Football Club
North Adelaide Football Club, nicknamed The Roosters, is an Australian rules football club affiliated with the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and SANFL Women's League (SANFLW). The club plays its home games at Prospect Oval, located in Prospect, a northern suburb of Adelaide. The club joined the SAFA in 1888 as the Medindie Football Club (nickname Dingoes), changing its name to North Adelaide in 1893. It is the fourth oldest club still in operation in the SANFL after South Adelaide (1877), Port Adelaide (1877) and Norwood (1878). Swan Districts Football Club
The Swan Districts Football Club, nicknamed the Swans, is an Australian rules football club playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and WAFL Women's (WAFLW). The club is based at Bassendean Oval, in Bassendean, an eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The club was formed in 1932, and joined the then-Western Australian National Football League (WANFL) in 1934, acting as a successor to the Midland Junction Football Club, which had disbanded during World War I, in the Perth Hills region. History Swan Districts finished seventh on the WANFL ladder winning seven out of 21 games in their debut season in 1934. Keith Slater
Keith Nichol Slater (born 12 March 1935) is a former Western Australian cricketer and West Australian Football League (WAFL) player. Cricket career In cricket, Slater was an all-rounder who played in only one Test match, against England in 1958–59, but he played 67 first-class matches for Western Australia between 1955 and 1968. He had his best batting season in 1963–64, scoring 655 runs at an average of 38.52, and scored his only century, 154 against Queensland, when he opened the batting and helped Western Australia avert defeat. His best bowling season was 1960–61, when he took 30 wickets at an average of 32.43. He toured New Zealand with the Australian team in 1959-60, playing in two of the four matches against New Zealand. Vic Richardson
Victor York Richardson (7 September 189430 October 1969) was a leading Australian sportsman of the 1920s and 1930s, captaining the Australia cricket team and the South Australia Australian rules football team, representing Australia in baseball and South Australia in golf, winning the South Australian state tennis title and also being a leading local player in lacrosse, basketball and swimming. Richardson won the South Australian National Football League's highest individual honour, the Magarey Medal, while captain-coach of Sturt in 1920. John Reedman
John Cole "Jack" Reedman (9 October 1865 – 29 March 1924) was a leading Australian sportsman of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Australian football career Reedman began to make his mark as an Australian rules footballer in 1884, whilst playing parklands football for Medindie. He went on to join Hotham who were in the Adelaide Suburban Association (ASA) competition, and was a key member of the club's 1885 premiership side. He captained Hotham when they again won the ASA premiership in 1886. Hotham joined the South Australian Football Association (SAFA) in 1887, with Reedman as captain. Just prior to the 1888 football season, Hotham changed their name to North Adelaide (no connection to the current club) and again Reedman was captain. The Sydney Swans are a professional Australian rules football club based in Sydney, New South Wales. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Swans also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Laurie Nash
Laurence John Nash (2 May 1910 – 24 July 1986) was a Test cricketer and Australian rules footballer. An inductee into the Australian Football Hall of Fame, Nash was a member of South Melbourne's 1933 premiership team, captained South Melbourne in 1937 and was the team's leading goal kicker in 1937 and 1945. In cricket, Nash was a fast bowler and hard hitting lower order batsman who played two Test matches for Australia, taking 10 wickets at 12.80 runs per wicket, and scoring 30 runs at a batting average of 15. The St Kilda Football Club, nicknamed the Saints, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Melbourne, Victoria. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier league. Keith Ross Miller (28 November 1919 – 11 October 2004) was an Australian Test cricketer and a Royal Australian Air Force pilot during World War II. Philip Lee (cricketer)
Philip Keith Lee (15 September 1904 – 9 August 1980) was an Australian cricketer who played in two Test matches from 1931 to 1933. During the early 1920s, he was a leading Australian rules footballer in the South Australian Football League and played at interstate level for South Australia. He was a member of the Norwood Football Club's 1923 premiership team. He originally mainly played as a half-forward, but after missing some games due to a leg injury he returned in 1926 to play as a half-back. As a cricketer, Lee was a hard-hitting right-handed batsman and a right-arm bowler of off breaks. He played several matches for South Australia from 1925 to 1926, originally batting in middle order and bowling infrequently.
