The trophy was donated by Cedric Isaachsen to the Australian Lacrosse Council (ALC) in 1963. Isaachsen had a distinguished military career, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel and earning the honour of Companion of the Distinguished Service Order (DSO), followed by a distinguished legal career. He was the president of ALC (1962-65), then vice-president for 14 years until 1979. He was elected as a fellow of the ALC in 1994. He lived in South Australia and died in 2009, aged 97 years. Best And Fairest
In Australian sport, the best and fairest award recognises the player(s) adjudged to have had the best performance in a game or over a season for a given sporting club or competition. The awards are sometimes dependent on not receiving a suspension for misconduct or breaching the rules during that season. In the Australian Football League (AFL), the Brownlow Medal is awarded to the player who, provided he has not been suspended during the season, receives the most votes from the umpires for being the Fairest and Best player in games during the home and away season. In each game, the umpires award three votes to the player they judge to be the best afield in that game, two votes to the second-best player and one vote to the third-best player. The votes are counted at a gala function on the Monday preceding the Grand Final. World Lacrosse (WL), formerly the Federation of International Lacrosse, is the international governing body of lacrosse, responsible for the men's, women's, and indoor versions of the sport. North Adelaide Lacrosse Club
The North Adelaide Lacrosse Club was founded on 22 March 1887, and is the oldest continually existing lacrosse club in South Australia. Nobel Laureate Sir William Henry Bragg, previously a member of the Adelaide Lacrosse Club, was a founding member of North Adelaide as well as the Adelaide University Lacrosse Club later in 1889. NALC are currently located in the suburb of Gepps Cross. In 1903, the name of the club was changed to Port Adelaide, by which it was known until 1966, until becoming once again known as Woodville. Brian Griffin (lacrosse)
Brian Griffin (16 April 1941 – 17 June 2020) was an Australian lacrosse player and one of only two lacrosse players to be inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame. Griffin commenced playing in 1953 for the Nedlands-Subiaco Lacrosse Club in Western Australia, making his A Grade debut in 1957. An attacker of the highest quality, Griffin first represented Australia in their 1962 overseas tour. He took out Australia's highest individual honour in winning the OC Isaachsen Trophy as Australia's best and fairest men's lacrosse player in 1966. Griffin captained the Australian side at the inaugural World Championship in Toronto, Canada, in 1967, and was selected as Australia's most valuable player for the tournament. The East Fremantle Lacrosse Club was founded in 1899 and is the oldest continually existing lacrosse club in Western Australia. History Lacrosse first commenced in Western Australia in 1896 however in the first two years only social games were conducted. In 1898 four teams: Fremantle, Perth, Cottesloe and Mercantile were established and the first competition matches began. In April 1899 at the annual general meeting of the. Peter Inge
Peter Inge (born 13 December 1977) is a lacrosse player who was the first Australian to play in Major League Lacrosse, being drafted to the Boston Cannons in 2003. Originally from the Woodville Lacrosse Club in South Australia, Inge first represented Australia at the 1996 ILF World Under 19 Championship, where they came runner-up to the United States. After competing in the senior Australian team alongside his brother James at the 1998 World Lacrosse Championship where Australia finished third, Inge stamped his mark on the world stage when in 2002 he was selected in the World All-Stars team following Australia's bronze medal at the championships in Perth.
