List Of Australian Football League Umpires
This is a list of people who have umpired in the Australian Football League (AFL), formerly the VFL. As of 2007 there have been a total of 1,249 umpires to have umpired at VFL/AFL Level (408 field umpires, 523 boundary umpires and 318 goal umpires). The first field umpire to be appointed to a match was Henry "Ivo" Crapp, the first boundary umpire was Chris Carriss and the first goal umpire was F. J. Burton. An umpire is an official in the sport of Australian rules football who adjudicates the game according to the " Laws Of The Game", the official handbook of Australian Rules Football. Umpiring the game of AFL across all leagues be it professional or juniors just starting have been subject to long history of abuse, in 2022 the AFL a long all the other associations have stepped up to help stamp out that abuse. Charlie Curtis
Charlie Curtis (17 December 1878 – 8 May 1959) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of John Richard Curtis, J.P. (1853-1945), and Elizabeth Curtis (1855-1931), née Harry, Charles Ernest Curtis was born at Carlton, Victoria on 17 December 1878. One of his brothers, Harry Richard Curtis (1892-1968), played VFL football for both Carlton and Collingwood. He married Alice Louisa Atkinson (1882-1906) in 1904. He married Maud May Ratcliff (1887-1948) in 1911. Andrew Curtis (umpire)
Andrew Curtis is a former Australian rules football goal umpire. Umpiring career WAFL Curtis began his career as a goal umpire with the North Pilbara Football League in 1986. He was transferred by his employer BHP to Launceston, Tasmania where he continued his umpiring career with the Tasmanian Football League. In 1991, he returned to Perth, Western Australia and joined the Western Australian Football League. He umpired in the 1996 WAFL Grand Final between East Perth Football Club and Claremont Football Club. By the time of his retirement in 2006 he had umpired 143 WAFL league matches. In 2003, he was inducted as a Life Member to the West Australian National Football League Umpiring Association. AFL Curtis joined the Australian Football League umpiring panel in 1996. Thomas Harold Craven (26 April 1895 – 26 November 1970) was a player for Geelong in the VFL The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). Bob Corbett (footballer)
Robert "Bob" Corbett (23 November 1895 – 10 June 1957) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Football Corbett, a centreman, came originally from Ballarat team Golden Point and was already 24 by the time he made his VFL debut in 1920. He was a constant fixture in the Melbourne side during the 1920s and a regular interstate representative. Just before half time in the 1926 Preliminary Final, Corbett was struck in the face and knocked to the ground by Essendon player Charlie May. Despite returning to the field later in the game, he missed out on playing in Melbourne's premiership win the following week, diagnosed with a broken jaw. Etienne Samuel Chapman (26 April 1876 – 2 December 1949) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Chapman was educated at Scotch College and played his early football in the Victorian Football Association for 1 game with Richmond in 1892, then Fitzroy, St Kilda and South Melbourne A forward, Chapman joined Carlton for the 1897 VFL season, the inaugural league season. He played 13 games that year and kicked four of Carlton's five goals in their round six defeat of St Kilda at Junction Oval, to register their first ever VFL win.
