Punjab Cricket Team (India)
The Punjab cricket team is a first-class cricket team that represents the Indian state of Punjab. They have qualified for only one Ranji Trophy semi-final in the last five seasons and made it to the final in the 2004–05 tournament, where they lost to Railways in the first innings. They also play in other domestic cricket tournaments in India. They have only been winners of the Ranji Trophy once, in the 1992–93 season. Competition history In 1968-69, Punjab competed as a unified team for the first time. Before then, Southern Punjab, Eastern Punjab and Northern Punjab had competed at various times. Punjab has won the Ranji Trophy only once, in 1992–93. That year, they lost the Irani Trophy against a Rest of the Indian team that featured the likes of Rahul Dravid, and Sourav Ganguly. Subhrajit Saikia
Subhrajit Saikia (born 9 December 1974) is a former Indian cricketer who played domestic cricket for Assam cricket team. He is a left-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. Saikia made his first-class debut for Assam in the 1993/94 season of Ranji Trophy. Assam Cricket Team
The Assam cricket team is a domestic cricket team represents the Indian state of Assam, run by the Assam Cricket Association. They compete and represent the state annually in the first-class Ranji Trophy tournament, limited-overs Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament and the Twenty20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. History Assam played their first first-class match in the 1948–49 Ranji Trophy, captained by Rupert Kettle, who also scored their first century two seasons later. They had their first victory in the 1951–52 Ranji Trophy, when they beat Orissa by 103 runs; the captain, Peter Bullock, top-scored in each innings with 31 and 148, and took 7 for 70 and 3 for 29. Rajesh Borah
Rajesh Kumar Borah (born 14 November 1967) is an Indian former first-class cricketer who represented Assam and Railways. He was regarded as "perhaps the finest cricketer Assam has produced." After his playing career, he worked as a coach. Life and career A right-handed batsman and right-arm off break bowler, Borah made his first-class debut in 1983 at the age of 16 and represented India Under-19s in the 1986/87 season. He appeared for Assam between 1983/84 and 2000/01 as well as for Railways for two seasons. In 1988, he struck 126 off 62 balls against Tripura in the Ranji Trophy, which is one of the fastest hundreds in Indian domestic cricket. Madhya Pradesh Cricket Team
The Madhya Pradesh cricket team is a domestic cricket team based in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It competes in the Ranji Trophy. History Holkar cricket team A Central India team competed in the Ranji Trophy between 1934–35 and 1939–40, playing 12 matches. In 1941, Holkar entered the competition, organised and managed by King Yashwantrao Holkar II belonging to the Holkar dynasty of the Marathas. In the fourteen years of its existence Holkar, which included such players as C. K. Nayudu and Mushtaq Ali, won the title four times and finished second on six other occasions. Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti (1978 – May 2, 2011), real name: Ibrahim Saeed Ahmed (also known as Shaykh Abu Ahmed, Arshad Khan and Mohammed Arshad), was a Kuwaiti-born Pakistani terrorist and courier for Osama bin Laden. Pritam Das (born 16th October 1988) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Assam in domestic cricket. Das is a right-arm fast-medium bowler, born in Silchar, Assam. He made his first-class debut during the 2006-07 Ranji Trophy competition, against Odisha in January 2007. He took 5 for 65 in the first innings. The following month, Das made List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Orissa. In April 2007, he made appearances for Assam in the Inter State Twenty20 tournament. He also represented the Royal Bengal Tigers in now defunct Twenty 20 league ICL. He took most wickets in the 2012–13 Vijay Hazare Trophy, India's domestic 50 over tournament. Swarupam Purkayastha
Swarupam Purkayastha (born 15 September 1989) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Assam in domestic cricket. He is a bowling all-rounder who bats right-handed, and bowls right-arm off break. He played for Assam at different age-levels such as Under-14, Under-16 and Under-19, before making his first-class debut in 2008. Between 2008 and 2010, Purkayastha played six first-class matches, eight List A matches and four Twenty20 matches. He did not play top level cricket for another four years. In November 2014, Purkayastha returned to the Assam team during the 2014–15 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was included in the squad for the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy. The Bengal cricket team represents the Indian state of West Bengal in domestic first-class cricket. It is considered Eastern India's strongest cricket team. The team plays its home matches at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Bengal has won two Ranji Trophy victories and has been runner-up a total of 12 times. Bengal won the Vijay Hazare Trophy, also known as the Ranji One Day Trophy, in 2012. Dheeraj Jadhav
Dheeraj Jadhav (born 16 September 1979), is an Indian cricketer who currently plays for Assam. He has represented Mumbai Champs in the Indian Cricket League and Maharashtra in domestic cricket. Although he used to bat in the middle order, he later became a stroke-playing opening batsman which produced immediate results. After good performances for India A, including a century in an India v India A game he was called up into the Test squad for the 4th Test vs Australia at Mumbai in 2004.
