Adlersky City District
Adlersky City District (russian: А́длерский райо́н) is the southernmost of four city districts of the city of Sochi in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, lying along the Black Sea coast near the southern Russian border with Georgia. The city district borders Maykopsky District of Adygea in the north, Mostovsky District of Krasnodar Krai in the east, Abkhazia in the south, and Khostinsky City District in the northwest. In the southwest, it is bordered by the Black Sea. Population: Adlersky District was chosen to host the 2014 Winter Olympics. Chaltyr
Chaltyr (russian: Чалтырь, hy, Չալթր) is a rural locality (a '' selo'') in Myasnikovsky District of Rostov Oblast, Russia. Population: It is also the administrative center of Myasnikovsky District and the largest settlement in the district. Geography Chaltyr is situated 11 km west of Rostov-on-Don. The village of Crimea (with 4,5 thousand inhabitants) directly adjoins Chaltyr from the north. Rivers Mokry Chaltyr and Khavaly flow through the settlement. History Chaltyr was founded in 1779 by Armenian settlers from the Crimea peninsula, whose real birthplace was the capital of medieval Armenia, the city of Ani. They speak the Nor-Nakhichevan (or Don, Crimean-Ani) dialect of Western Armenian language. Holy Cross Church, Nakhichevan On Don
Surp Khach Church ( hy, Սուրբ Խաչ Եկեղեցի , russian: Церковь Святого Креста, Holy Cross Church) is an 18th-century Armenian church in Nor Nakhichevan. It is the oldest surviving monument in the borders of Rostov-on-Don. History The church was built in 1786–1792. In 1972, it was turned into a museum of Russian-Armenian friendship, but was reopened as an Armenian Apostolic Church in 2000. The church is situated in the modern-day Voroshilovsky (North) rayon, on a high hill near the river. Several famous Armenian people like Harutyun Alamdaryan, Raphael Patkanian and Mikael Nalbandian are buried near the church. Rostov Oblast ( rus, Росто́вская о́бласть, r=Rostovskaya oblast, p=rɐˈstofskəjə ˈobləsʲtʲ) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast), located in the Southern Federal District. Slavyansk-on-Kuban
Slavyansk-on-Kuban (russian: Славянск-на-Куба́ни) is a town in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, located in the Kuban River delta. Population: 56,000 (1975). History Slavyansk originated in the Middle Ages as ''Copa'' or ''Coparia'', a Genoese trade outpost controlled by the Ghisolfi family and was one of the most important Genoese colonies in the Black Sea area. After the fall of the Genoese power in the Pontic region, the site was abandoned until 1747 when the Crimean Khanate erected a small fort, known in Russian sources as ''Kopyl''.
