Argentina

Milagros Correch
Milagros Correch (born 1991, Villa Urquiza, Buenos Aires), better known as Milu Correch, is an Argentine painter and muralist recognized internationally for her large scale murals and illustrations. Her work can be found in cities in Argentina and around the world. Career 2011-2012 Correch began her career as an artist in 2011 painting a street mural in Buenos Aires as she saw her home town getting filled with murals and fell in love with the format. She attended a workshop to learn the basic skills of mural painting led by Emy Mariani and Lean Frizzera, two Argentinian street artists from Buenos Aires. Gaby Herbstein
Gaby Herbstein (born May 3, 1969) is an Argentine visual artist and photographer. Her work has been published in magazines, books, blogs and exhibitions across Latin America, the US, Russia, China and Japan. Life and career Growing up she wished to be an Egyptologist, but given the limited opportunity for studying such careers in Argentina she instead chose to study tourism. While studying tourism she joined a friend in a photography class and instantly became hooked. Before she'd even finished her professional training, she started working as a photographer for major fashion magazines in Latin America. Annemarie Heinrich
Annemarie Heinrich (9 January 1912 – 22 September 2005) was a German-born naturalized Argentine photographer, who specialized in portraits and nude photographs. Heinrich is considered one of Argentina's most important photographers. She is known for having photographed various celebrities of Argentine cinema, such as Tita Merello, Carmen Miranda, Zully Moreno and Mirtha Legrand; as well as other cultural personalities like Jorge Luis Borges, Pablo Neruda and Eva Perón. She also photographed landscapes, city scenes, animals, and abstracts. Her photographs of South America hold significant ethnographic value, showing changes to the area through the 20th century. Sarah (born Sarai) is a biblical matriarch and prophetess, a major figure in Abrahamic religions. Noemí Gerstein
Noemí Gerstein (November 10, 1910 – June 14, 1996) was an Argentina, Argentine sculptor, illustrator and plastic artist. Noemí Gerstein was born November 10, 1910, in Buenos Aires, where she continued to live and work. In 1934, she began training under Alfredo Bigatti In the 1950s, she received a government grant to travel to France, where she studied at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris under the tutelage of Ossip Zadkine. In 1952, Gerstein was one of the winners of the Institute of Contemporary Arts' design competition for the Unknown Political Prisoner Monument. Gerstein's works were predominantly abstract, and she "experimented with new materials." Magda Frank
Magda Frank Fischer (20 July 1914 – 23 June 2010) was a Hungarian Argentines, Hungarian-Argentine sculptor. Biography She was born in Cluj-Napoca, Kolozsvár, Transylvania, which at that time belonged to Hungary but in 1918, was incorporated into Romania. Because of Nazi persecution, she left Hungary to settle in Switzerland. Years later, she moved to Paris to study at the Académie Julian. In 1950, she arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina to visit her brother, her only living family member. Here, she was appointed professor at the Artes Visuales de Buenos Aires and exhibited at the Galería Pizarro. She participated in the Premio Palanza Buenos Aires. She received the Benito Quinquela Martín award at the Eduardo Sívori Museum, and was honored by the Argentine Senate. Raquel Forner
Raquel Forner (1902–1988) was an Argentine painter known for her expressionist works. Life Forner was born in Buenos Aires in 1902. Her father was Spanish by nationality and her mother was an Argentine of Spanish descent. As a result of frequent family travel to Europe, Forner spent part of her childhood in Spain, and later developed an artistic interest in the Spanish Civil War. Forner completed studies at the National Academy of Fine Arts (today part of the National University Art Institute) in Buenos Aires in 1923. A year before graduation she received an appointment to teach drawing at the same academy. In 1924 she received a third place award from the Argentine National Salon of Fine arts, and in 1928 she had her first solo exhibition in Buenos Aires. Leonor Fini
Leonor Fini (30 August 1907 – 18 January 1996) was an Argentinian born Italian surrealist painter, designer, illustrator, and author, known for her depictions of powerful and erotic women. Early life Fini was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Malvina Braun Dubich (born in Trieste, with German, Slavic and Venetian ancestry) and Herminio Fini (with ancestry from Benevento, Italy). Herminio was a handsome and very wealthy man, but also tyrannical, with extreme religious views. He made his young wife very unhappy and, within eighteen month's of Leonor's birth, she fled back to Trieste with the child. Leonor was raised there and she would be expelled from various schools for being rebellious. As a Catholic, Herminio refused to give Malvina a divorce, which was only granted to her in 1919 through an Italian court. Sara Facio
Sara Facio (born 18 April 1932) is an Argentine photographer. She is best known for having photographed, along with Alicia D'Amico, various cultural personalities, including Argentine writers Julio Cortázar, María Elena Walsh and Alejandra Pizarnik. Facio also was instrumental in establishing a publishing house for photographic work in Latin America and for the creation of a prominent photographic exhibition space in Argentina. Rosa Faccaro (3 July 1931 – 22 January 2019) was an Argentine art critic, painter and university teacher who specialised in contemporary art, contemporary, Pre-Columbian art, Pre-Columbian and Textile arts, textile art. She received several awards for her work, was curator of multiple art exhibitions and was a jury member of many international and national awards.
