The Primera División (; en, "First Division"), known officialy as Liga Profesional de Fútbol, or Torneo Binance for sponsorship reasons, is a professional football league in Argentina, organised by the Argentine Football Association (AFA). The Primera División is the country's premier football division and is the top division of the Argentine football league system. It operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Primera Nacional (Second Division), with the teams placed lowest at the end of the season being relegated. James Gifford
James Gifford (10 January 1864 – 18 April 1931) was an Argentine sportsman who played football and first-class cricket. Career Gifford was born at Buenos Aires in January 1864. He played club cricket for Buenos Aires Cricket Club and also played against touring sides. He spent time in England, where he played first-class cricket for the Marylebone Cricket Club in 1897 and 1898, making five appearances. Gifford scored 143 runs in these five matches, with a highest score of 37. Lomas (Spanish for "hills"), also called fog oases and mist oases, are areas of fog-watered vegetation in the coastal desert of Peru and northern Chile. About 100 lomas near the Pacific Ocean are identified between 5°S and 30°S latitude, a north–south distance of about . Lomas range in size from a small vegetated area to more than and their flora includes many endemic species. Apart from river valleys and the lomas the coastal desert is almost without vegetation. William Leslie was a Scottish footballer who played as Defender for Lomas Athletic Club and the Argentina national team. Career Leslie began his career in Lomas Athletic Club, team where he had won the first division championship 1893, and it had been the top scorer with 7 goals. Between 1900 and 1904 Leslie played in Quilmes Atlético Club. In 1902 Leslie played in the Argentine team, who had played his first match against the Uruguay team. Alberto Zozaya
Alberto Maximo Zozaya (13 April 1908 – 17 February 1981) was an Argentine football striker who played most of his career for Estudiantes de La Plata and represented the Argentina national team. Playing career Alberto "Don Padilla" Zozaya started his career in the early 1930s with Estudiantes. He was the first player to score a goal in the professional era of Argentine football, which began in 1931. Zozaya became an integral part of the Estudiantes team of the 1930s nicknamed "Los Profesores" (The Professors). In 1931 he scored 33 goals in the league to become the top scorer in the Primera División Argentina and the whole of South America. In 1937 Zozaya played in the South American Championship 1937 helping Argentina to win the title with a contribution of 5 goals. In 1939 Zozaya moved to Racing Club de Avellaneda but he only played 2 games before moving to Bella Vista in Uruguay but he did not settle there either and retired at the end of the 1940 season. Roque Avallay
Roque Avallay (born 14 December 1945 in San Rafael, Mendoza) is a former Argentine football striker. He played for a number of clubs in Argentina and represented the Argentina national football team. Avallay started his career with Deportivo Maipú in 1964, it was not long before he was signed by Independiente of the Primera División Argentina. In his first year with the club they won the Copa Libertadores 1965. In 1966 Avallay moved to Rosario to play for Newell's Old Boys, it was in 1968 that he received his first call-up to play for the Argentina national team. In 1970 Avallay joined Huracán of Buenos Aires. He was part of the team that won the Metropolitano 1973 championship.
