An announcer is a voice artist who relays information to the audience of a broadcast media programme or live event. Television and other media Some announcers work in television production, radio or filmmaking, usually providing narrations, news updates, station identification, or an introduction of a product in television commercials or a guest on a talk show. Music television announcers were also called video jockeys (VJ). Renel Brooks-Moon (born September 22, 1958), known on-air simply as Renel, is the public address announcer for the San Francisco Giants since 2000, and a former radio personality, having hosted shows on KMEL, KISQ, and KBLX. Biography Born in Oakland, California, Brooks-Moon was raised throughout the Bay Area. She attended Woodside High School from 1972–1976. Brooks-Moon then attended Mills College, where she graduated in 1981 with a B.A. in English. Carl Beane
Carleton E. "Carl" Beane (September 18, 1952 – May 9, 2012) was a sports radio broadcaster from 1972 until 2012, and was best known as the public address announcer for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball. From 2003 until 2012, Beane was behind the microphone of every home game at Fenway Park, including Games 1 and 2 of the 2004 and 2007 World Series, opening each game with the words "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to Fenway Park". Career During his career, Beane was a broadcaster for many outlets, including ESPN Radio, Sirius Satellite Radio, Westwood One, and the Associated Press. Rex Barney
Rex Edward Barney (December 19, 1924 – August 12, 1997) was a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1943 and from 1946 through 1950. As a teenage phenom, Barney was signed by the Dodgers at the age of 18, in 1943. He pitched 45 innings that year. Enlisting in the Army in 1943, Barney eventually served in Europe, receiving 2 Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star Medal. Barney returned to the majors in 1946. He was one of the hardest throwers in the league but struggled with wildness early in his career. In 1948, however, he gained control of his fastball and had his greatest season; he won 15 games and finished second in the National League with 138 strikeouts.
