Albanians
The Albanians (; sq, Shqiptarët ) are an ethnic group and nation native to the Balkan Peninsula who share a common Albanian ancestry, culture, history and language. They primarily live in Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia as well as in Croatia, Greece, Italy and Turkey. They also constitute a large diaspora with several communities established across Europe, the Americas and Oceania. Albanians have Paleo-Balkanic origins. Exclusively attributing these origins to the Illyrians, Thracians or other Paleo-Balkan people is still a matter of debate among historians and ethnologists. The first certain reference to Albanians as an ethnic group comes from 11th century chronicler Michael Attaleiates who describes them as living in the theme of Dyrrhachium. Pirro Çako
Pirro Çako is an Albanian singer and composer. In 1988, he won the Festivali i Këngës as a composer with the song ''E duam lumturinë'' ( en, We love happiness). The song was interpreted by Parashqevi Simaku. He has issued two albums: ''Herët a vonë'' ( en, Sooner or Later) in June 2004 and including 15 songs, and more recently, a second album, ''Mos më krahaso'' ( en, Don't Compare Me), a set of 12 songs. In a collaboration with composer Ardit Gjebrea, Çako wrote the song It's All About You ( sq, Nuk mundem pa ty), interpreted by Juliana Pasha for the Albanian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. Life Çako was born on 19 November 1965 in Tirana, Albania, to tenor Gaqo Çako and soprano Luiza Çako. Gashi (rapper)
Labinot Gashi (; born 4 October 1989), known mononymously as Gashi (stylised as GASHI), is a Libyan-Albanian rapper, singer and songwriter. Biography Labinot Gashi was born in Libya, on October 4, 1989, to ethnic Albanian parents from Kosovo. He spent his childhood as a refugee in several African and European countries before settling in Brooklyn, New York City, at the age of 10. Struggling to pick up the English language, he turned to music to help ease his adjustment into society, and quickly became hooked to rap. Gashi graduated from New Utrecht High School and earned a football scholarship to play at a Division 2 school in Massachusetts (American International College). Tiri Gjoci (born 5 November 1993, in Kavajë) is an Albanian musician singing various genres in Pop, Alternative, Blues, Pop-Rock, Dance-Hall etc. His musical career began at age 14. Tiri was introduced to the public when he was featured in the Dr Flori 2013 hit "Zemërthyer". Tiri later took part in various music competitions. Adrian Gaxha (, mk, Адријан Гаџа; born 13 February 1984) is a Macedonian-Albanian singer, songwriter, producer, dancer and entrepreneur. Life and career Adrian Gaxha was born on 13 February 1984 into an Albanian family in the city of Skopje, then part of the Socialist Republic of Macedonia, present-day North Macedonia. Gaxha discovered his passion for music at an early age and started to play the viola. He commenced his early music career in 2001 simultaneously with his participation in Nota Fest. There, he won first prize, the first time a newcomer won both, the jury and the audience votes. Florat Qerimi (born 30 July 1997), known professionally as Florat, is a Swiss-Albanian rapper and producer. He is the co-founder of the hip hop group and label MRM. Early life Florat Qerimi was born on 30 July 1997 in Muri, Aargau, Switzerland. He is of Kosovar Albanian descent. His grandfather went to work in Switzerland in 1971, and took his family with him in 1990. Florat was born and raised in a tough neighborhood in Zürich. However, he managed to avoid trouble and soon became interested in football and martial arts. Pjetër Dungu
Pjetër Dungu (1908–1989) was an Albanian piano accompanist and composer-arranger of urban folk music. He is known in the history of the music of Albania as the first compiler of Albanian folk songs. Dungu was born in Shkodër, where he took music lessons from composer Martin Gjoka. He played oboe and trumpet, while studying piano and harmony. In the 1930s, Dungu gained a reputation as a piano accompanist for urban lyric song, reaching a height around the end of the decade. In 1940, Dungu published ''Lyra Shqiptare'' (Albanian Lyra), the first collection of 50 folk melodies. The compilation was published by Instituto Geografico De Agostini, Novara, in Italy.
