A1 Grand Prix
A1 Grand Prix (A1GP) was a "single-make" open-wheel auto racing series that ran from 2005 until 2009. It was unique in its field in that competitors solely represented their nation as opposed to themselves or a team, the usual format in most formula racing series. As such, it was often promoted as the "World Cup of Motorsport". The series was ratified by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), and races were held in the traditional Formula One off-season, the northern hemisphere winter. A1 Team Korea was a South Korean motor racing team that started in two rounds of the A1 Grand Prix international racing series' final season in 2008–09 A1 Grand Prix season, 2008–09. A1 Team USA
A1 Team USA was the American team of A1 Grand Prix, an international racing series. Management Owner Rick Weidinger became interested in A1 Team USA and the A1 Grand Prix series when national franchises were being bid for the new series. Along with minority partners and friends Rusty Lewis and Bill Dean, Weidinger finalized the franchise acquisition in July 2005. The engineering side of the team was originally run by British squads David Price Racing, and then West Surrey Racing. For 2008–2009 the team was run by IndyCar Series team Andretti Green Racing and Andretti Green's IndyCar drivers, primarily Marco Andretti drove the majority of races. A1 Team Switzerland is the Swiss team of A1 Grand Prix, an international racing series. The team were the A1 Grand Prix champions for the third season, 2007-08. A1 Team Singapore
A1 Team Singapore is the A1 Grand Prix national team representing Singapore. Singapore took part in this competition for the first time in its history in October 2006. Christian Murchison, Denis Lian and Hafiz Koh were the original drivers for the team. The team was launched on 19 September 2006 by sports minister Vivian Balakrishnan, with West Surrey Racing to run the car. The future of the Singapore A1 team is in doubt for the third season, with both drivers Denis Lian and Hafiz Koh already being dropped from the team in season 2.
