This page is a list of 2013 UCI WorldTeam, UCI ProTeams and riders. These teams competed in the 2013 UCI World Tour. Teams overview The 19 ProTeams in 2013 were: were promoted up to the top division of teams for this season, whilst were somewhat controversially removed from the World Tour peloton. On 15 February 2013 the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld 's appeal against the UCI's decision not to issue them a World Tour licence. On 18 February 2013 the UCI announced that, contrary to previous assertions, 19 teams would hold ProTeam status for this season. This caused 2013 Paris–Nice, Paris–Nice and the 2013 Giro d'Italia, Giro d'Italia to accommodate 23 teams as were not given a wild card invite when they were a Pro-Continental team, but would now be invited as a ProTeam. UCI WorldTeam
A UCI WorldTeam (2015–present), previously UCI ProTeam (2005–2014), is the term used by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to name a cycling team of the highest category in professional road cycling, the UCI World Tour or UCI ProTour The UCI ProTour was a series of road bicycle races in Europe, Australia and Canada organised by the UCI (International Cycling Union). Lapierre Bikes
Lapierre is a bicycle manufacturing company based in Dijon, France. Lapierre bicycles are ridden by French UCI WorldTeams Groupama–FDJ and FDJ Nouvelle-Aquitaine Futuroscope. Their mountain bikes have been notably ridden by Nicolas Vouilloz and he has been involved in the development of the bikes. History The company was founded 1946 by Gaston Lapierre in Dijon. His son, Jacky, took over management in 1960, and a new factory was built in 1972. Lapierre is owned by Accell Group. Accell bought a 33% stake in January 1993, followed by the rest in April 1996. In 2007 Lapierre started distribution in the United Kingdom. Distribution began in Canada with the 2010 model year. They now produce over 90,000 bicycles a year at three locations in France. Cicli Pinarello S.p.A. is an Italian bicycle manufacturer based in Treviso, Italy. Founded in 1953, it supplies mostly handmade bicycles for the road, track, E-bikes(NYTRO), mountain bikes and cyclo-cross. The company also produces bicycles under the ''Opera'' brand name, and has an in-house component brand – MOST. In December 2016, the company was acquired by L Catterton, a private equity group associated with Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy SE, better known as LVMH. History Giovanni Pinarello was born in Catena di Villorba, Italy in 1922. He was the eighth of 12 brothers. At the age of 15, Giovanni began making bicycles at the factory of Paglianti. Ridley (bicycles)
Ridley Bikes was started in 1997 by Jochim Aerts, a frame builder and painter who had been producing frames for Belgian bicycle companies since 1990. In a few years, Ridley became the market leader in Belgium for racing bikes. They are the main bike sponsors for team Lotto–Soudal. Ridley boasts of having developed the fastest time trial machines in the world with the types Dean and Noah, which were created after intensive wind tunnel tests. These tests led to findings for a new wheel series, the future aero speed technology - FAST for the road. The Cannondale Bicycle Corporation is an American division of Dutch conglomerate Pon Holdings that supplies bicycles. Its headquarters are in Wilton, Connecticut with engineering offices in Freiburg, Germany. Frames are manufactured in Taiwan.
