List Of Victoria First-class Cricketers
This is a list of Victoria first-class cricketers. The Victoria cricket team have played first-class cricket since 1851, when they played the Tasmania cricket team at Launceston. Below is a chronological list of cricketers to have represented Victoria at first-class level. Many of the cricketers played first-class cricket for other teams but the information included under 'Debut', 'Career' and 'Matches' are for their career with the Victoria cricket team. The first day of each match is the date given as their debut. When a number sign # is shown next to a cricketer's debut date it indicates that it was the second of two matches to be played on the same day. Victoria Cricket Team
The Victoria men’s cricket team is an Australian first-class men's cricket team based in Melbourne, Victoria. The men’s team, which first played in 1851, represents the state of Victoria in the Marsh Sheffield Shield first-class competition and the Marsh One Day Cup 50-over competition. It was known as the Victorian Bushrangers between 1995 and 2018, before dropping the Bushrangers nickname and electing to be known as simply Victoria in all cricket competitions. Victoria shares home matches between the Melbourne Cricket Ground in East Melbourne and the Junction Oval in St Kilda. The team is administered by Cricket Victoria and draws its players primarily from Victoria's Premier Cricket competition along with players from throughout the country. Victoria also played in the now-defunct Twenty20 competition, the Twenty20 Big Bash, which was replaced by the franchise-based Big Bash League. Malwyn A'Beckett
Malwyn a'Beckett (26 September 1834 – 25 June 1906) was an English-born Australian cricketer who played for Victoria. He was born in London and died in Sale, Victoria. A'Beckett made a single first-class appearance for the side, during the 1851–52 season, against Tasmania. From the tailend, he scored three runs in the first innings and seven in the second. Six seasons later, he played in a Gentlemen v Players match on a Gentlemen's team which won by an innings margin. Charles Cumberland (Australian Cricketer)
Charles Brownlow Cumberland (1801 – 26 November 1882) was an Australian cricketer. He played two first-class cricket matches for Victoria. He also played for Melbourne Cricket Club. Cumberland was a major general in the British Army. He commanded the 59th Regiment for several years while it was stationed in Tasmania. Richard Coulstock
Richard Coulstock (1823 – 15 December 1870) was an Australian cricketer. He played two first-class cricket matches for Victoria and one match for Otago. Coulstock was born in England in 1823. In 1863 he was employed as a groundsman by the Dunedin Cricket Club. He played for Otago in several matches in 1863–64, including New Zealand's first first-class match, against Canterbury. George Cavenagh
George Cavenagh (16 June 1836 – 23 November 1922) was an Australian cricketer who played one first-class match for Victoria in 1854. Life and career Cavenagh was born in Sydney, and his family moved to Melbourne in 1840 when his father, also George Cavenagh, founded the ''Port Phillip Herald''. Young George worked for the Bank of Australasia for 44 years, managing the Portland branch from 1864 to 1877. He was secretary to the Associated Banks for 14 years. Cavenagh made a single first-class cricket appearance for Victoria, against Tasmania in March 1854. He was the highest scorer in the low-scoring match, making 35 and 10, and also took 5 for 46 and 1 for 17. Tasmania nevertheless won by eight wickets. Cavenagh married Maria Loader Stodart in Melbourne in January 1862.
