Mung Chiang
Mung Chiang (born 1977) is a Chinese-American engineering researcher, educator, technology entrepreneur, foreign policy official, and 13th President of Purdue University. Starting January 1, 2023, Chiang is President of Purdue University. He is the youngest president of an AAU university. Previously he was both Executive Vice President of Purdue University and the John A. Edwardson Dean of its College of Engineering. Previously he was the Arthur LeGrand Doty Professor of Electrical Engineering at Princeton University, and an affiliated faculty in applied and computational mathematics and in computer science. Mitch Daniels
Mitchell Elias Daniels Jr. (born April 7, 1949) is an American academic administrator, businessman, author, and retired politician. A Republican, Daniels served as the 49th governor of Indiana from 2005 to 2013. Since 2013, Daniels has been president of Purdue University and plans to retire as of January 1, 2023. Daniels began his career as an assistant to senator Richard Lugar, working as his chief of staff in the Senate from 1977 to 1982. He was appointed executive director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee when Lugar was chairman from 1983 to 1984. Timothy D. Sands (born March 26, 1958) is an American materials engineer, researcher and the 16th president of Virginia Tech. Sands previously served as the acting president and as the provost of Purdue University. Education Sands earned his B.S. with Highest Honors in Engineering Physics in 1980, his M.S. in Material Science and Engineering in 1981, and his Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering in 1984, all from the University of California, Berkeley. Richard Owen (geologist)
Richard Dale Owen (January 6, 1810 – March 25, 1890) was a Scottish-born geologist, natural scientist, educator, and American military officer who arrived in the United States in 1828 and settled at New Harmony, Indiana. Owen, who was trained as a natural scientist and physician, served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army during the Mexican–American War and the American Civil War. After the Civil War, Owen taught at Indiana University for fifteen years (1864–79) and chaired its natural science department. While retaining his faculty position at IU, Owen also served as Purdue University's first president (1872–74). During the interwar years, Owen taught natural science at the Western Military Institute in Kentucky and after its merger with the University of Nashville in Tennessee.
