This is a list of provincial parks in the Canadian province of Alberta. These provincial parks are maintained by Alberta Parks. Provincial Parks Provincial parks are established under the Provincial Parks Act to "support outdoor recreation, heritage tourism and natural heritage appreciation activities that depend on and are compatible with the natural environment". Provincial Parks differ from Wildland Provincial Parks in that the former have better road access and allow a greater range of activities for users. Provincial Parks have a focus on a variety of outdoor recreational uses and enjoyment of the natural environment. Alberta
Alberta ( ) is one of the thirteen provinces and territories of Canada. It is part of Western Canada and is one of the three prairie provinces. Chain Lakes Provincial Park
Chain Lakes Provincial Park is a provincial park located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains west of Nanton, Alberta, Canada. It was established along the Chain Lakes Reservoir. The Cowboy Trail runs along the eastern boundary of the park. The park is located 1 1/2 hours southeast of Calgary and about the same distance from Lethbridge to the southeast. Facilities and activities Chain Lakes Provincial Park is open year-round and offers camping and day use facilities. Camping facilities include individual sites with power and a group camp large enough for about 15–20 recreational vehicles and tents. Day use facilities include picnic tables and heated kitchen shelters. Year-round fishing is a popular activity. The reservoir is regularly stocked with lake trout. A number of walking trails of various lengths and levels are located throughout the park. Castle Provincial Park
Castle Provincial Park is a provincial park in southern Alberta, Canada. It is located within the Municipal District of Pincher Creek No. 9 south of the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass, northwest of Waterton Lakes National Park and west of the Town of Pincher Creek. It shares a boundary with Castle Wildland Provincial Park to the west and south. The designation of Castle Provincial Park was approved on January 20, 2017, with an effective date of February 16, 2017. The designation involved the protection of of land. The namesake is derived from Windsor Ridge and the West and South Castle Rivers that flow through the park. The park is an important link in the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem, providing a habitat and migratory corridor for a variety of wildlife such as grizzly bears, black bears, wolverines, cougars, bobcats, deer, elk, and moose. Carson-Pegasus Provincial Park
Carson-Pegasus Provincial Park is a provincial park located in central Alberta, Canada, within Woodlands County. The park is located around McLeod Lake (previously named Carson Lake) and Little McLeod Lake (previously known as Pegasus Lake), approximately north of Whitecourt. It is accessed by Highway 32. The park protects the boreal forest ecosystem with aspen, balsam poplar, balsam fir and white spruce, as well as the willow/alder shorelines, black spruce bogs, grass marshes, and fens. The park is also a fishing spot and a habitat for diverse mammals and birds. Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park is a provincial park in Alberta, Canada, located immediately west of Canmore, west of Calgary. This provincial park is situated at the foot of Mount Rundle within the Canadian Rocky Mountains along Bow Valley and the Trans-Canada Highway, at an elevation of , and has a surface of . Calling Lake Provincial Park is a provincial park in Alberta, Canada. It is a boreal forest reserve located north of Athabasca on Highway 813, and north of Edmonton, on the southern shore of Calling Lake. The marshy shores of the lake provide nesting grounds for waterfowl and habitat for American white pelicans and great blue herons. Activities Activities in the park include bird watching, camping, canoeing, swimming, other beach and water-related sports and fishing for longnose sucker, northern pike, shiner, cisco, walleye and yellow perch.
