Kingston is the capital and largest city of Jamaica, located on the southeastern coast of the island. It faces a natural harbour protected by the Palisadoes, a long sand spit which connects the town of Port Royal and the Norman Manley International Airport to the rest of the island. Kingston Peninsula
The Kingston Peninsula is a peninsula in southern New Brunswick, Canada, located between the Saint John River and the Kennebecasis River in Kings County. Kingston is one of the 14 Parishes of Jamaica. Together with neighbouring St. Andrew Parish, it makes up the amalgamated Municipal Unit of Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation. Kingston, Guyana
Kingston is a former village in Demerara. In 1837, it became a ward of Georgetown. The ward is located along the Atlantic Ocean coast. Kingston is home to many landmarks and historic buildings. History Around 1759, Cornelius Leary applied for land, and established a coffee and cotton plantation near the mouth of the Demerara River. Eve Leary, his wife, later inherited the plantation. In 1796, the Dutch colony of Demerara was captured from by the British. English officers started to built cottages and gardens near Eve Leary's estate. In 1837, the village was annexed by Georgetown. Many of the elite of Georgetown started to construct residences in Kingston. The origin of the name is disputed. Kingston Norman Rogers Airport
Kingston Airport , also known as Norman Rogers Airport, is a regional airport located west of the core of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The airport is named after former MP Norman McLeod Rogers (Kingston City 1935–1940), Minister of Labour and then National Defence in Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King's cabinet. Rogers died in a plane crash on June 10, 1940 while flying from Ottawa to Toronto for a speaking engagement. History Before 1940, Kingston was served only by the Kingston Airfield, a grass strip just north of the city's downtown, which closed in 1942. Kingston Airfield
Kingston Airfield, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, operated from 1929–1942 as Kingston's first airport. It consisted of a grass strip and supporting buildings in what is now the ''Kingscourt'' subdivision of the city, just to the west of the St. Mary's cemetery. The city of Kingston purchased what was then the Reid Farm and leased it to the Kingston Flying Club, who operated a flight school using two Gipsy Moth aircraft. The Kingston Airfield was a popular refueling stop between Toronto and Montreal, and in 1931, 1,400 transient aircraft were recorded using the field. The airport was closed in 1942 after a crash. After World War II, the Kingston Flying Club resumed operations at Norman Rogers Airport, west of the city, which had been built as a military field, and the original Kingston Airfield was redeveloped as a residential neighborhood. Kingston was a federal electoral district represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1925 and from 1953 to 1968. It was located in the province of Ontario. It was created by the British North America Act of 1867, and initially consisted of the city of Kingston, Ontario. In 1903, it was expanded to include the village of Portsmouth. The electoral district was abolished in 1924 when it was redistributed into Kingston City riding. In 1952, a new Kingston riding was created from Kingston City and parts of Frontenac—Addington ridings.
