The Gaon Album Chart is a South Korean record chart that ranks the best-selling albums and EPs in South Korea. It is part of the Gaon Music Chart, which launched in February 2010. The data are compiled by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Music Content Industry Association based upon weekly and monthly physical album sales by six major South Korean distributors: LOEN Entertainment, S.M. Entertainment, Sony Music Korea, Warner Music Korea, Universal Music and Mnet Media. In 2011, there were 44 albums which reached number one on the weekly chart. Girls' Generation, Big Bang, and JYJ topped the chart with three different albums each, more than any other act. CNBLUE, Kim Hyun-joong, and Super Junior each had two number one albums on the chart. Girls' Generation (), also known as SNSD, is a South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment. Lee Seung-hyun (; born December 12, 1990), better known by his stage names Seungri (Hangul: ) and V.I (when performing in Japan), is a former South Korean singer, songwriter, actor, businessman and sex offender convicted of facilitating prostitution, sexual bribery and embezzlement in the Burning Sun scandal. In the mid-2000s, Seungri rose to prominence as a member of the South Korean boy band Big Bang. Into The New World (album)
Girls' Generation Asia Tour "Into the New World" is the first Asian concert tour of South Korean girl group Girls' Generation. It commenced with two shows in December 2009 in Seoul, followed by two encore shows in February 2010, before the Asian legs in Shanghai and Taipei. Additionally, on August 25, 2010, the group visited Tokyo, Japan for their Premium Showcase Live in Ariake Colosseum. This was their first ever concert performance in Japan, and it launched their debut in Japan. Overview The tour was announced by S.M. Entertainment in November 2009. GD & TOP was a South Korean hip-hop/ pop duo formed by G-Dragon and T.O.P, the rappers of the K-pop boy band Big Bang in 2010. The release of their first album, ''GD & TOP'' (2010) was a commercial success becoming one of the best selling albums of the year in South Korea, and spawning the top-five hits "High High", " Oh Yeah", and "Knock Out" on the Gaon Digital Chart.
