Frank Rose (politician)
Frank Herbert Rose (5 July 1857 – 10 July 1928) was a British politician and journalist. Born in Lambeth, Rose was educated at the George Street British School. He became an engineer, and worked in the trade until 1899, when he became a journalist. He was an early member of the Labour Party, and wrote ''The Coming Force'', a history of the party. At the 1906 UK general election, Rose stood unsuccessfully in Stockton, and then at the January 1910 UK general election he was unsuccessful in Crewe. He was finally elected in Aberdeen North at the 1918 UK general election, and held the seat until his death, in 1928. Arthur Loyd
Arthur Thomas Loyd (19 April 1882 – 8 November 1944) was a Conservative Party politician in England. Early life Born in Northampton, Loyd belonged to a Welsh family, several members of which settled in Berkshire. His uncle, Archie Kirkman Loyd, was the Conservative Member of Parliament for Abingdon from 1895 to 1906 and from 1916 to 1918. In 1920, Loyd inherited Lockinge House from Lady Wantage, the wife of his father's second cousin. Political career Loyd was subsequently elected MP for Abingdon at a by-election in 1921, and represented the division until he stood down at the 1923 general election. Other work He was on the governing body of Abingdon School from 1921 to 1923 and again from 1935 to 1944 in addition to be the Chairman of the Governors from 1939 until his death in 1944. George Barker (Welsh Politician)
George Barker (13 March 1858 – 28 October 1936) was a Welsh Labour Party politician. Born in Hanley, Barker was educated at Norwood National School before joining the Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment). He served in the Anglo-Zulu War before becoming a coal miner in Abertillery. Barker became active in the South Wales Miners' Federation, and later served as full-time agent to its Monmouthshire and Western Valleys district. He also served on the executive of the Miners' Federation of Great Britain from 1911 until 1921. Abertillery was a county constituency centred on the town of Abertillery in Monmouthshire. It returned one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, elected by the first past the post system of election. Lieutenant-Colonel Arthur Cecil Murray, 3rd Viscount Elibank, CMG, DSO (27 March 1879 – 5 December 1962) was a British army officer and politician. Early life and education Murray was the fourth son of (1st) Viscount Elibank of Selkirkshire and his wife Blanche Alice ''née'' Scott of Portsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire. The family moved to Dresden in Germany in 1886, and he received his early education in the city. He was a student for at least some time at Sunningdale School in Berkshire. Career He entered the Royal Military College Sandhurst and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Indian Staff Corps on 20 July 1898. In the same year he became Aide-de-Camp to the Lieutenant Governor of Bengal, Sir John Woodburn. Kincardine and Western Aberdeenshire was a Scottish constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1918 until 1950. Boundaries In 1868, the constituency of Aberdeenshire was divided into Aberdeenshire Eastern and Aberdeenshire Western divisions. These continued as constituencies until 1918, when the county of Aberdeenshire and the county of Kincardineshire were treated as if a single county for parliamentary representation purposes, with the area of the former Kincardineshire and Aberdeenshire constituencies being divided into three new constituencies, Aberdeen and Kincardine East, Aberdeen and Kincardine Central and Kincardine and Aberdeenshire West. Frederick Martin CBE (23 October 1882 – 18 January 1950) was a Scottish Liberal, later Labour politician and journalist. Family and education Martin was born in Peterhead in Aberdeenshire, the third son of William Martin and Agnes Clark. He was educated at Peterhead Academy. In 1914 he joined the 5th Battalion, the Gordon Highlanders and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. Aberdeen and Kincardine East (or ''East Aberdeenshire and Kincardineshire'') was a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1918 to 1950. The constituency elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. As created in 1918, the constituency was largely a replacement for Eastern Aberdeenshire.
