A landscape architect is someone who practices landscape architecture. Regulations of the profession vary by country and state. The terminology has evolved to include those once known as List of professional gardeners, landscape gardeners, landscape or garden designers, architects, Surveying, surveyors, or civil engineers. A landscape architect is a person who is educated in the field of landscape architecture. The practice of landscape architecture includes: site analysis, site inventory, site planning, land planning, planting design, grading, storm water management, sustainable design, construction specification, and ensuring that all plans meet the current building codes and local and federal ordinances. The practice of landscape architecture dates to some of the earliest of human cultures and just as much as the practice of medicine has been inimical to the species and ubiquitous worldwide for several millennia. However, this article examines the modern profession and educational discipline of those practicing the design of landscape architecture. Shlomo Aronson (landscape Architect)
Shlomo Aronson (Hebrew: שלמה אהרונסון); November 27, 1936 – September 12, 2018) was an Israeli landscape architect. His works range from master plans for reforestation to archaeological parks and freeway planting schemes to urban plazas. Biography Shlomo Aronson was born in Haifa, Mandatory Palestine. Aronson went to the United States to study landscape architecture as an undergraduate student and received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) from the University of California, Berkeley in 1963. He went on to study at the Harvard Graduate School of Design where he received his Master of Landscape Architecture in 1966. Aronson returned to Israel, and lived and worked in Ein Kerem, Jerusalem. Mai Haru Kitazawa Arbegast (1922–2012) was an American landscape architect, and professor based in Berkeley, California. She was a professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at Berkeley. She was the first acting director Blake Garden after its gift to the UC Berkeley Department of Landscape Architecture . As a professional landscape architect who specialized in planting design and her work included estates, wineries, and large scale residential gardens, as well as public, commercial, and educational projects. Yoshikuni Araki
was a Japanese garden designer, garden architect, landscape gardener, landscape architect, and garden creator, who was known for his Japanese-style gardens. Araki was born in Osaka and graduated from the Tokyo Landscaping School (which later became the School of Landscape Architecture at the Tokyo University of Agriculture). Emma Appleton is an Australian landscape architect and urban designer notable for her contributions to urban planning and development. She is the Director of City Strategy at the City of Melbourne, Victoria. Background Appleton has held senior public agency and design consultancy roles in Australia and the UK. Édouard André
Édouard François André (17 July 1840 – 25 October 1911) was a French horticulturalist, landscape designer, as well as a leading landscape architect of the late 19th century, famous for designing city parks and public spaces in Lithuania, Monte Carlo and Montevideo. Biography Born into a family of nurserymen in Bourges, Cher, Édouard André assisted Jean-Pierre Barillet-Deschamps in 1860, at the age of twenty, and participated in the redesign of the city of Paris in cooperation with Jean-Charles Adolphe Alphand and Georges-Eugène Haussmann. Eventually he was appointed Head Gardener (''Jardinier Principal'') of Paris. During eight years of public service he designed and planted many public spaces, including the Parc des Buttes Chaumont and Tuileries Gardens. Stig Lennart Andersson
Stig Lennart Andersson (born 30 March 1957) usually referred to as Stig L. Andersson, is a Danish landscape architect, founder and Creative Director of Copenhagen-based SLA which has developed into an interdisciplinary organisation working with landscape, urban spaces and urban planning. Andersson is also professor at University of Copenhagen and was visiting professor at Aarhus School of Architecture in 2009. Biography Stig L. Andersson studied landscape architecture at the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1981 to 1986. Following his graduation, he travelled to Japan on a Japanese scholarship.
