Jungle Music
Jungle is a genre of dance music that developed out of the UK rave scene and sound system culture in the 1990s. Emerging from breakbeat hardcore, the style is characterised by rapid breakbeats, heavily syncopated percussive loops, samples, and synthesised effects, combined with the deep basslines, melodies, and vocal samples found in dub, reggae and dancehall, as well as hip hop and funk. Billain
Billain (born ''Adis Kutkut'') is a Bosnian drum and bass producer, DJ and sound designer from Sarajevo. He is mostly known for his distinctive style within the neurofunk genre and his collaborations with Frenkie and Edo Maajka. Career Billain was influenced as a pre-teen by the Bosnian War. During the four-year-long Siege of Sarajevo he began to draw and later discovered graffiti and created his first hip hop productions. In search of new possibilities to express his feelings originating in the siege, at first Billain taught himself how to produce techno music and later neurofunk. Before he released his first music, Billain joined the drum and bass collective ''Kontra'' which organised many drum and bass events in Sarajevo with Djs like ''Matrix & Optical'', ''Teebee'', ''Stakka & Skynet'' and ''Konflict''. Camo & Krooked are an electronic music duo from Vienna, Austria with their musical roots embedded in drum and bass, consisting of Reinhard "Camo" Rietsch (born 12 November 1983 in Salzburg) and Markus "Krooked" Wagner (born 31 July 1989 in Lilienfeld). History Both Rietsch and Wagner have been producing music since 2002. They met at one of Rietsch's gigs and collaborated to form Camo & Krooked in 2007. Calyx (musician)
Calyx is a British drum and bass act, specialising in the techstep style. Previously the duo of Larry Cons and Chris Rush (both of London), it is now a solo project of Larry Cons. Their first release was in 1998 for Moving Shadow sublabel Audio Couture. Most of their releases have been for Moving Shadow, including their debut album ''No Turning Back'' (2005), with a few appearances for Metalheadz and Renegade Hardware. Many of Calyx hits has been featured in the video game ''Midnight Club 3''. Track ''Quagmire'' is featured in '' Grand Theft Auto III''. In September 2007 he released an album called ''Anatomy'', which was a joint project with fellow drum 'n' bass artist and long-term collaborator Teebee. Calibre (musician)
Dominick Martin, better known by his stage name Calibre, is a Northern Irish drum and bass music producer and DJ from Belfast. He started producing at a young age. He is a classically trained musician, playing a variety of musical instruments. Martin started producing Drum and Bass in 1995 and his first signed release was credited under the now defunct Quadrophonic record label. He soon came to the attention of drum and bass DJ Fabio, who signed Calibre to his record label, Creative Source. While studying Fine Arts at the University of Ulster in Belfast, he became interested in the music of John Cage whose work was influential in titling Martin's first album release ''Musique Concrète'' in 2001. Danny Byrd (born 4 May 1979) is an English DJ, record producer and musician from Bath in the South West of England. He is influenced by genres such as house, UK garage, R&B and the jungle sound. He primarily releases his music through Hospital Records, the UK-based independent dance music label. In 2009, his track "Red Mist VIP" reached number one on the UK Dance Chart on the week ending 25 July 2009, and on 7 February 2010, his remix of Liquid's Sweet Harmony gave him his first success on the UK Singles Chart, making No. 64. Phil and Dan Brookes, otherwise known as the Brookes Brothers, are two London-based drum and bass producers. History In 2006 they surfaced with "Portal" / "Desert Island" on Danny Wheeler's W10 imprint. This was followed by "Verano", a collaborative effort with Nick Douwma, otherwise known as Sub Focus. In 2007, the Brookes Brothers were exclusively signed to DJ Fresh and Adam F's label Breakbeat Kaos. Justin Broadrick
Justin Karl Michael Broadrick (born 15 August 1969) is an English musician, singer and songwriter. He is best known as the lead singer and a founding member of the band Godflesh, one of the first bands to combine elements of extreme metal and industrial music. Following Godflesh's initial breakup in 2002, Broadrick formed the band Jesu. He was briefly in the English grindcore band Napalm Death when he was a teenager in the mid-1980s, writing and recording guitar for their debut album, '' Scum''. Boymerang
Boymerang was the drum and bass project of the English post-rock musician Graham Sutton. Formation Following the release of the Bark Psychosis album ''Hex'' in 1994, Sutton became interested in drum and bass. He began buying Jungle records at the Lucky Spin record shop in North London and going to Islington's Paradise Club. One of the final Bark Psychosis performances, at the 1994 Phoenix Festival was Sutton and fellow band member Daniel Gish playing drum and bass. Sutton stated that he felt invigorated by the drum and bass scene after the grueling and insular band experience of ''Hex''. "I never thought I'd want to feel part of something," he said in 1996. Michiel "M.C.A." van den Bos (born 23 May 1975) is a Dutch musician who composes primarily for Epic Games and Triumph Studios. He began composing on the Commodore 64 and Amiga before making the transition to composing professional soundtracks for video games such as '' Unreal'', ''Unreal Tournament'', ''Deus Ex'', and the ''Overlord'' series. Blue Stahli is an American electronic rock project by Bret Autrey. Blue Stahli has appeared in a number of movie trailers, shows and games. History Musical beginnings and VOXiS (1997–2006) Autrey started music at a young age, learning through the use of an old beat up piano he had rescued from a dump. He worked through 3 years of piano lessons, by mimicking his neighbor and playing the melodies by ear. During this same time, he had become interested in sampling and programming music using DOS's Impulse Tracker. Later he received lessons from a friend for guitar, and would play along to music such as Queen's soundtrack to ''Flash Gordon''.
