Mount Druitt, New South Wales
Mount Druitt is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Blacktown, and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. There are numerous encompassing, smaller suburbs nearby including Bidwill, Blackett, Dharruk, Emerton, Hebersham, Lethbridge Park, Minchinbury, Shalvey, Tregear, Whalan, and Willmot. History Major George Druitt (1773–1842) was granted in the area by Governor Macquarie. He named his grant, where he died in 1842, Mount Druitt. Rail services to Mount Druitt commenced on 19 August 1881. The railway station operated as the post office between 1885 and 1918. The station had two platforms and a level crossing at the western end and included small goods yard, servicing a small mill. Plumpton, New South Wales
Plumpton is located 45 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Blacktown and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. History Following European settlement of Australia in 1788, attempts were made to integrate Indigenous Australians into the European culture. As significant land grants had been made around Prospect, a 'Native Institute' – which came to be known as 'Black's Town' – was built early in the 1820s around the Plumpton area, at the intersection of Rooty Hill Road and Richmond Road. The 'School for Aboriginal Children' was relocated to this institution in 1823, however by 1833 it had been abandoned. In the short time it existed, 'Black's Town' stamped its name on the road from Prospect to the institution. Austral is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is 42 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Liverpool. History The area that now constitutes the suburbs of Austral was a parcel of land in West Hoxton purchased by the Austral Banking and Land Proprietary. When residents pushed for a second public school in the Hoxton Park area in 1891, Austral Banking and Land Proprietary donated of its land for the site and, in return, the school was named Austral Public School. The name of the school became synonymous with the area although it wasn't officially recognised until 1972. Austral Post Office opened on 7 February 1894. Salamah College is an independent Islamic co-educational primary and secondary day school, located in Chester Hill, a south-western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The school motto is ''Education. Faith. Discipline''. Salamah College commenced its first year of K-8 in 2012. However, after expansions the school teaches K-12. The campus features a soccer field, pool, tennis courts and mosque. The campus has over 700 students in both primary and secondary. The school employs more than 100 staff members. It is co-located with Darulfatwa - Islamic High Council of Australia and radio station 2MFM. In June 2016 it was reported that student numbers will increase five-fold, and there are approved plans for $27 million extensions for new classrooms, a childcare centre and a sports centre. Cecil Park is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia 40 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Fairfield. It is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. History Cecil Park was originally home to the Cabrogal people who occupied much of the greater Fairfield area. When European exploration of the area began in the early 19th century, a nearby range was named Cecil Hills and this in turn inspired the name Cecil Park. The first white settler in Cecil Park was Simeon Lord. Cecil Park Post Office opened on 16 July 1897 and closed in 1966. Green Valley, New South Wales
Green Valley is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Green Valley is located west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Liverpool and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. History Green Valley was originally home to the Cabrogal people who spoke the Darug language. It was covered in eucalyptus forests and home to native animals such as wallabies and possums that were hunted by the Cabrogal for meat, hides and bones. When Governor Lachlan Macquarie established a town at nearby Liverpool in 1810, the surrounding areas were soon granted to British settlers who began clearing the forests for farmlands. A large area to the northwest of Liverpool was dubbed Green Valley.
