La Bionda
La Bionda were an Italian disco duo consisting of siblings Carmelo (1949–2022) and Michelangelo La Bionda (born 1952). They are considered among the pioneers of the Italo disco music genre. The siblings were born in Ramacca, Sicily and moved to Milan, Lombardy in 1954. History Beginnings Carmelo was born on 2 February 1949, and Michelangelo on 25 August 1952 in Ramacca, Sicily. Their family moved to Milan in 1954. Music career They debuted as songwriters with "Primo sole, primo fiore", a piece the pop band Ricchi e Poveri presented at the Song Festival in Venice in 1970. They also wrote "Neve bianca, Amica, Gentile se vuoi" for the Italian female singer Mia Martini, and "Piccolo uomo" with Bruno Lauzi (lyrics). Michelangelo La Bionda also did some session work. Peter Lemongello
Peter Lemongello (born February 11, 1947) is an American singer known for his double album ''Love '76''. Early career Lemongello spent the first part of his career as a cabaret singer, with several appearances on national TV, including 25 on ''The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson''. He released his first two records (under the name Pete Lemongello) on the Rare Bird record label to no fanfare. In 1973, he signed to Epic Records. He released one single in December 1973; it failed to chart and he subsequently left the label. ''Love '76'' Frustrated by his lack of record sales, Lemongello hit upon the idea of creating an album to be sold exclusively on TV. Cheryl Lynn (born Lynda Cheryl Smith; March 11, 1957) is an American singer. She is best known for her songs during the late 1970s through the mid-1980s, including the 1978 R&B/disco song "Got to Be Real". Lynn's singing career began with her church choir when she was a girl. Her professional singing career started in 1976 when she obtained a job as a backing vocalist for the national touring company of the musical drama ''The Wiz''. Eventually, she obtained the role of Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West, during the six-month national tour. Carrie Lucas (born November 5, 1945) is an American R&B singer, born in Carmel, California. In 1976, she was signed to Soul Train Records. Lucas released six studio albums over seven years, with Soul Train and Solar Records. Lucas was married to Soul Train Records and Solar Records founder Dick Griffey, from 1974 until his death in 2010. Career "I Gotta Keep Dancing" and "Gotta Get Away from Your Love" were the two hit singles from Lucas's first album, '' Simply Carrie'', released in 1977. The Love Unlimited Orchestra was a 40-piece string-laden orchestra formed by American singer Barry White, and serving as a backing unit for White and for female vocal trio Love Unlimited. From the early 1970s on, they also recorded several singles and albums under their own name. Career The orchestra was originally formed in 1972 to back White's female vocal group Love Unlimited for their debut album. The following year they began supporting White for his solo debut ''I've Got So Much to Give''. Their biggest hit was 1973's instrumental single "Love's Theme". The track, written by Barry White, went to number 1 for one week in the US and number 10 in the UK. The RIAA awarded a gold disc in February 1974. Love De-Luxe was a disco studio group assembled by United Kingdom, British Record producer, producer Alan Hawkshaw (the father of Kirsty Hawkshaw). They had one chart entry: "Here Comes That Sound Again", which spent a week at #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1979. Vicki Brown (singer), Vicki Brown and Jo-Ann Stone provided the human voice, vocals, and the track was technically credited to Love De-Luxe with Hawkshaw's Discophonia. The act’s 1979 album ''Again and Again'' was even notable for the cover itself: the original feature two women embracing each other (implying that they’re Lesbians, once the album sleeve opened). But in the United States a different cover featuring illustration of cigarette packages was used. Love & Kisses is a 1970s disco group assembled by European producer Alec Costandinos, with a variety of male and female singers. After collaborating on Cerrone's debut album ''Love In C Minor'' (1976), Costandinos assembled Love & Kisses in early 1977, and shortly after the group released their first album, ''Love and Kisses'', which contained just two songs - and so was also classed as a double A-side single. These were "Accidental Lover" and " I Found Love (Now That I Found You)", which combined orchestral sounds, classical influences and a disco arrangement. The single charted at #1 for three weeks on ''Billboards disco/dance chart. Mary Love
Mary Love (born Mary Ann Varney; July 27, 1943 – June 21, 2013) was an American soul and gospel singer, and Christian evangelist. After the 1980s she was known as Mary Love Comer. Life Love was born as Mary Ann Varney (or Mary Ann Allen, according to some sources), in Sacramento, California. After being discovered by Sam Cooke's manager, J. W. Alexander, she began singing on sessions in Los Angeles before recording "You Turned My Bitter into Sweet" for the Modern record label in 1965. Later records for the label met with little success until the single "Move a Little Closer" made No. 48 on the R&B chart in 1966. Her recordings for Modern, some of which were issued in the UK, became popular on the English Northern soul scene. Trinidad López III (May 15, 1937 – August 11, 2020) was an American singer, guitarist, and actor. His first album included a cover version of Pete Seeger's "If I Had a Hammer", which earned a Golden Disc for him. Liquid Gold was an English disco group, from Brackley in Northamptonshire. Their biggest success came in 1980 with "Dance Yourself Dizzy", which peaked at number two on the UK chart. Career Liquid Gold was formed by Ray Knott and Ellie Hope, who had met auditioning to play in Babe Ruth, a group that released four albums between 1972 and 1975. Both of them worked on the band's last album, ''Kid Stuff''.
